5 New Spring Perfumes That You’ll Adore

With the arrival of spring, it’s the ideal time to make some changes to your closet and your scent. Consider one of these new spring perfumes that are truly amazing!

When spring arrives it’s not just a time to organize your closet, it’s also a great time to freshen up your scent. In the colder months, we are much more likely to reach for heavier, muskier scents that reflect the season and the time of year. However, as the flowers start to bloom, it makes sense that how we smell should freshen up, too.

There have been some really interesting perfume launches this season already, so let’s take a closer sniff at them.

1. Poison Girl – Dior

Poison Girl by Dior

Having been a part of the launch of the new Miss Dior fragrances last year, any new scent Dior has to offer naturally intrigues me.

Dior’s website describes Poison Girl as: The fragrance of a modern-day girl, free and sexy. A delicious trap that instantly poisons and draws out the pleasure to the point of addiction.

A bitter-sweet floral with mouthwatering orange that is delightfully swathed in Venezuelan Tonka Bean and blossoms in the biting sensuality of Grasse Rose.

For me, the most surprising element of Poison Girl is the fact it is not what you’d expect from the typically heavier, richer Poison line. It is much lighter and fruitier and can be worn quite liberally in the daytime.

Despite it’s ‘girl’ title, it’s actually quite sophisticated and reminds me a lot of Viktor and Rolf’s Flowerbomb, so if you find any of the original Poisons too heavy, give it a sniff first before overlooking it in favor of another brand. I’m certain this one has great staying power. too.

2. Coral – Michael Kors

While this fragrance was originally launched in some places last fall, myself and other bloggers agree that this latest offering from Michael Kors is most definitely suited to spring/summer time.

With notes that include grapefruit, raspberry and sandalwood, it’s a fragrance that will transport you to a faraway place and is also suitable for al fresco dining as the weather warms up.

It’s light and fresh, yet lasts well on the skin with many users reporting the scent to be quite light and certainly not overbearing in the slightest.

If you are a fan of the Michael Kors’s fragrance line, or have been intrigued by all the hype surrounding them, give Coral a try. I also find the color of the bottle most unusual, so it would be sure to stand out on your dressing table.

3. Omnia Paraiba – Bvlgari

Bvlgari’s latest offering is one that exudes vacation upon first glance of the deep turquoise-colored bottle. Inspired by the Brazilian jungle, Paraiba’s notes include orange and maracuja, passion flower, Brazilian gardenia and cocoa.

What I like about the Omnia range is that they are constantly reinventing it to bring out new scents, and Paraiba takes the line in a whole new direction.

Mixing the lighter floral notes with the nuttier cocoa aromas is sure to evoke a dreamy, paradise-like vibe whenever it is sprayed. This clever combination also allows for something more sophisticated than sweet floral notes mixed alone, and as these initial notes wear off, you will be constantly intrigued by how it develops on the skin.

4. Daisy Blush Edition – Marc Jacobs

Daisy Blush Edition by Marc Jacobs

The Daisy range as a whole continues to be a crowd pleaser year after year with no sign of its popularity waning anytime soon. February 2016 saw the launch of Daisy Blush Edition, which has notes of pear, water lily and honeysuckle with base notes of woods and musk.

What I’ve always appreciated about the Daisy line is that it’s pretty much impossible to be disappointed by them when gifted to someone or when buying for yourself.

They contain delicate, thoughtful notes, but never anything offensive or overpowering, which also just happens to be the ideal combination for the perfect springtime scent—great if you like light and fresh but equally not sickly sweet. I find anything Marc Jacobs does is always a class act from the initial packaging right down to the product itself.

5. Black Opium Nuit Blanche – YSL

Black Opium Nuit Blanche by YSL

Working on a perfume counter, I often find YSL’s Black Opium to be one of the most requested scents, with it’s spicy gingerbread aroma a particular hit with my customers in the run up to the holiday season.

The great news is that the new twist on this fragrance for 2016, Nuit Blanche, allows Black Opium lovers to continue to wear it all year round, with it’s orange blossom and peony notes much more appropriate to warmer climates than its original counterpart.

It’s also a great option for those who dislike heavy floral on it’s own without a kick to it, yet still wish to keep the original character that people love so much. It has great staying power, too, and its twist comes complete in a jazzed up pink bottle, which is certainly more appropriate for the spring weather.

These are just some of the latest perfumes to keep an eye out for when looking for something new this spring. Let us know what your favorites are and what you would recommend for the warmer weather.
