How to Apply Sunless Tanner without Streaks

Women all over the world choose sunless tanning in order to avoid the harmful effects the sun might have on the skin. Applying self-tanning products without streaks might be tricky, so here’s something to help you – a few tips and tricks on how to apply sunless tanner perfectly!

You would love to have a sun-kissed tan this summer, but are afraid of the negative side effects of sunbathing? There’s a solution – self-tanner, of course! Yes, self-tanners may leave awful orange marks and ugly streaks, but they won’t if you apply them right! Here’s how to do so:

1. Choose the Right Product

Choosing the right sunless tanning products means, that you should choose the color that will suit your natural skin color, and the type that will go well with your skin type. This means that, if you’re a natural blonde with fair skin, you shouldn’t choose a color that is too dark. Also, if you have dry skin, choose a product that will not only give you a tan, but also hydrate your skin.

2. Exfoliate

Exfoliation is very important. You want your skin to be as smooth as possible before applying any self-tanner. Use a body scrub to exfoliate and get rid of all the dead skin cells on your body. After you’ve finished, use a towel to dry your skin. Apply a very small amount of moisturizer on your knees and elbows, so that these dry parts can blend in more easily.

3. Circulate

When applying your sunless tanner, use circular motions. Using swift motions will help you prevent the streaks, and your tan will be without marks, or darker spots. You could also use special self-tanning gloves that may prevent self-tanning streaks.

Don’t apply any tanner to your toes or heels, and be careful with the sides of your feat. Don’t forget to apply self-tanner on your neck, upper back, ears, and the area behind your ears.

4. Wash Your Hands

You definitely don’t want to have an amazing tan and – orange palms! In order to avoid these, wash your hands after applying your self-tanning product. Use a strong soap and some body or hand scrub – and don’t be too gentle. Don’t ever forget to wash your hands – orange hands are unbelievably difficult to get rid of, so you’d better not get them in the first place.

5. Give It Some Time

After applying a sunless tanning product, avoid contact with everything and everybody for at least 20 minutes. Do not put your clothes on for at least 45 minutes or an hour, and if being naked is not an option, put on a loose, light oversized shirt. Try to avoid contact with water for 6 to 8 hours and enjoy your perfect sunless tan!
