What to Wear for Traveling: 6 Celeb-Inspired Airport Outfit Ideas

This summer, combine comfort and glamor with these airport outfit ideas and tips and look as cool as the top Hollywood celebs.

From this year, get yourself into the idea that a glamorous holiday starts from the airport.

In my not-as-frequent-as-I-would-like traveling I have seen women wearing all sorts of horrible stuff in there, starting from pajamas (yes, I am serious!) to old premaman clothes even though your kid is 10 years old now.

It is a fine art that the top celebs have mastered really well, leaving us common mortals to look really shabby in our very old (but also very comfy) tracksuits.

Girls, I think that it is time to change that and start to put some glamor into our traveling outfits because, as I always like to say, you simply never know who you will meet there!

Here are the top DOs and DON’Ts that you should really keep in mind next time you go traveling.

  • DON’T wear too much makeup as it will most likely melt during the journey, especially if it is a long one, or it will irritate you. Anyhow, to avoid the panda effect, just wear the bare minimum, such as a little bit of mascara and some lipgloss to put on just before landing.
  • DO go for really comfy and practical clothes but don’t forget they have to be chic. I do not know who spread the idea that you can only feel comfy in pjs and Ugg boots, but there are so many other ways to wear clothes that will keep you comfortable during the long hours on the plane (and possibly a long waiting at the airport, as nowadays all airplanes seem to be terribly late) without opting for your night-wear. For example, a soft tunic dress and a pair of leggings can really go a long way, especially with a long cardigan on top and some flats. Or also a baggy top and a pair of leggings are another great alternative.
  • DON’T wear too light or too heavy clothes. Just imagine you are starting off from a chilly place with jumpers and scarves and then arrive to your beach resort which is 30° warmer and you are stuck with all your knitwear that literally makes you melt. Not the ideal scenario, is it? The best thing is to dress in layers, so go for blazers over cardigans over tank tops and leave some room in your luggage to put what you take off as it gets hotter and hotter. Plus, layers are chic this year, so it is a win-win situation.
  • DO carry a cross-body bag in a decent size. The fact that is cross-body will prevent you from having a terrible back and shoulder ache, but make sure that it is big enough to carry everything you need for the plane, such as books, magazines, medicines, tablet, snacks, etc. Bring one that also has many pockets, which will be really practical to grab passport and other small things really quickly.
  • DON’T wear lots of jewelry otherwise the security check will literally take hours and you will hold up the queue. Avoid also to wear difficult shoes to take off for the exact same reason, especially if they have metal detailing and studs that could set off the metal detector if you don’t take them off.

What is better than a total white outfit with a splash of bright color on top? This outfit worn by Eva Longoria is super simple but is also very chic.

To get it, just wear a pair of white trousers and a white top and then add a cool and colorful blazer, that could be either yellow like hers, or in other colors such as red or orange. To complete the look, a tan bag adds that extra touch of glamor.

2. Georgia May Jagger

I love crop tops and I think that they could be worn almost anywhere this summer.

Wear one with a pair of jeans and some comfy ankle boots. Plus, to not get cold on the plane, add a cool cardigan on top with a fun print like the one Georgia May Jagger wears! Perfect for every climate and super easy to wear.

3. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

A big pashmina scarf in another great alternative of the cardigan and the blazer for when you are traveling. It can do miracles in keeping your whole body warm as it serves also as a sort of blanket that you can use when you are sitting down.

You can wear it with a really simple top and a pair of capri jeans and, if it is particularly cold, you can also add a leather jacket that will give a tougher edge to the whole look.

4. Nicole Richie

As I have previously said, one of the easiest and comfiest traveling outfits is with a long white top and a pair of leggings.

You can also do like Nicole Richie and add a vest on top to have more movement in the outfit and a pashmina scarf comes back also here to add an extra layer of warmth.

5. Jessica Alba

Jessica Alba looks super cute in this sophisticated outfit. It is also quite simple to copy, with a pair of plain jeans, a feminine and soft blouse, a white blazer, a scarf and a cool hat.

It is the ultimate layered outfit and I think that the hat is really what makes it all more glamorous.

6. Una Healy

No, I have not forgotten about jumpsuits.

A large, floaty romper, that could be either long or short, depending on the temperatures, is basically the chic version of your comfy pajamas. You can wear it with a pair of flats or sandals and you will be glamorous all over in no time.
