So, the sun is slowly beginning to appear, the summer months are on the horizon and it’s time to put away those coats and throw on those shorts. It can seem quite daunting sometimes when you have to change your wardrobe the moment the temperature rises, but by incorporating some sunny colors and cute styles, and keeping your own personal look, you’ll be ready to work it this summer. Here are five ways to mix some floral fashion staples into your everyday look.

1. Pastel colors

It’s no secret that pastel colors and floral patterns go hand-in-hand. Choosing pastel clothes is a great way to welcome in the sunshine. They’re simple, cute and feminine and make you feel light as a feather. Of course, there are hundreds of pastel floral prints to choose from.

A great place to start is to find a simple pastel yellow or pink blouse that has simple yet contrasting colors as a print. Find something billowy and elegant that will not only keep you nice and cool but look great as well! These pastel floral styles can be mixed with some brown boots for when it’s slightly colder, or even a cowgirl waistcoat to add a bit of flair.

2. Simple clothes, bold accessories!

This is the perfect way to rock floral fashion when you’re edging towards a lazier day in the sun. After all, we can’t always be up for making ourselves look stunning every day! This option is also really handy for a casual shopping day or if you’re a lady who lunches.

Choose clothing that’s light in colors, but not too focused on the pattern. A plain white shirt and blue jeans will do the trick! Jazz it up with a chunky floral necklace (usually decorated with flowery charms), which can make a real statement. Or, to add to it, try a bold and floral handbag or tote to carry all your essentials with you.

3. The festival look

Over the past few years, the Woodstock festival look has hit the runways once more. It’s billowy, fun and feminine, and lets you feel comfortable all at the same time. The festival style is all about tapping into that hippy style and sixties/seventies era, so it can even go hand-in-hand with some gorgeous vintage pieces as well.

We all know the ‘punk rocker with flowers in her hair’ song, and that is the epitome of the floral festival look! Flowers are what make you look boho and chic—a bold floral headband to place over some loose wavy hair will make you feel festival-ready in no time.

Pair with a long floating waist-coat and maxi dress and you’re ready! Or, if you’re feeling brave, mix in some real flowers. Scatter them around your hair and in the loops of your clothes to make you feel at one with nature.

4. The vintage look

This has to be my favorite of all! When you think vintage, you either think of the festival style, boho look or fifties retro, drive-ins and Greased Lightning! Of course, the thirties, forties and fifties were decades that loved floral fashion. Flower prints were on nearly everything women wore, as it was all about making a statement.

So, if you want to be bold, stand out and rock those flowers, think vintage all the way! For some-thing daring and different, try a floral jive skirt with a pastel colored petticoat underneath for that extra razzle dazzle. Pair it with colorful heels, a halter-neck top and some victory rolls, and you’ll be ready to welcome those soldiers home!

5. Mix and match

Of course, none of these looks are completely set in stone. It’s always great fun on a lazy Sunday to experiment and see what works best for you, as well as mix them up a bit. Stand out from the crowd in any way you want to with these floral looks, turn them upside down and every which way until you find what you look fabulous in.

Flowers tend to complement every shape and size because of how versatile the prints can be, so there is no need to worry if you can’t find your ideal look first time. By working them into your normal style, you will feel more comfortable and confident all at the same time. Before you know it, you will be basking in the summer sunshine with those statement pink flowers in your hair!

Florals are a major trend in fashion this season, so make you incorporate them into your outfits in some ways. Whether it’s actual flowers in your hair or just a print on a vintage skirt, you’re guar-anteed to be dressed for the season. What are your favorite florals to wear?
