Let’s Have MORE Fun With Nutella: 3 Exciting Recipes

Have you been adventurous enough to try the previous Nutella recipes? How were they? Here are more fun ones to experiment with!

As promised, here are more Nutella goodies that won my heart, and will hopefully win yours too. The theme this time is slightly different as I wanted to share with you some less chocolaty treats that we can make with Nutella – apart from the first Gooey Buttercake recipe, which I must absolutely share. After all, Nutella is made of hazelnuts, which goes well with many other ingredients.

And since Nutella also tastes good when combined with a slightly more savoury flavour, I also wanted to share a pie recipe that combines Nutella and pumpkin! Read on to find out more.

#1 Nutella Gooey Buttercake

This recipe might give you an end-product that looks like brownies, but don’t be disappointed because it tastes much better than that.

I first found this recipe on tidymom.net. The word ‘gooey’ attracted me the most because I could already picture myself licking the gooeyness off my fingers while having a piece of cake!

I trusted the advice and made this cake three days in advance; I wasn’t disappointed with the result! To be honest, I did try a slice the moment I finished baking it because I just couldn’t resist. Then, I hid it from view and tried it again three days later; it did taste more heavenly!

So, no more delay and let’s get started with this yummy recipe!

Ingredients:

Cake Mix:

  • 500g chocolate cake mix
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup of melted butter

Nutella Fillings:

  • 225g of cream cheese, room temperature
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup of Nutella
  • 1 ½ cup of icing sugar

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 180ºC.
  • In a large mixing bowl, add in your cake mix ingredients, and beat them with an electric mixer until they are well mixed.
  • Grease a rectangular cake tin (33cm x 23cm x 5cm) and line it with baking paper.
  • Press the cake mix firmly to the bottom of the cake tin with your fingers.
  • In another mixing bowl, add the cream cheese, 2 beaten eggs and Nutella and beat them well.
  • Gradually add in the sugar while beating and continue beating until smooth.
  • Spread this filling on top of the cake mix, and bake it for 40-45 minutes or until the edges turn brown.
  • Remember, this is a gooey cake so it is not necessary to have the skewer test!
  • Once baked, let it cool on a rack and store it in an air-tight container until the day you serve.

Ingredients:

  • 1 round sheet of puff pastry
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 cups of blended pumpkin
  • ½ cup of heavy cream
  • ½ cup of muscovado sugar
  • 1 tsp of cinnamon powder
  • ½ tsp of ground ginger
  • ¼ tsp of ground cloves
  • 1 tsp of salt
  • ½ cup of Nutella

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 180ºC.
  • In a pie dish, lay out the puff pastry sheet and press the edges firmly into the dish. Set it aside.
  • In a mixing bowl, beat the eggs.
  • Add in the other ingredients (apart from the Nutella), and stir to ensure they mix well.
  • Pour half of the above mixture on top of the puff pastry in your pie dish.
  • Add the Nutella to the other half of the mixture.
  • Once the Nutella is mixed in, use a serving spoon to scoop up the Nutella mixture and add it in different spots in your pie dish.
  • Once done, use a knife to make circular motions on the pie filling surface in order to “swirl” the filling.
  • Bake it for 40-45 minutes or until the filling has set.
  • Once baked, let it cool and serve at room temperature.

Serving Tip: You might want to fancy it up by drizzling some chocolate syrup on top of your cut-piece of pie before serving!

Having always been a great fan of banana bread, this recipe was irresistible to try.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of flour
  • 1 tsp of baking soda
  • 1 tsp of salt
  • ¼ cup of butter, softened
  • ¾ cup of sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 ¼ cup of mashed ripe banana
  • ⅓ cup of milk
  • 1 cup of Nutella, softened

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 180ºC.
  • Lightly grease a loaf tin and line it with baking paper.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda and salt.
  • In another bowl, beat the butter and sugar until creamy.
  • While beating, add the eggs one at a time into the mix and mix well. Then add the banana and milk.
  • When all the ingredients in step 5 are well-mixed, add the flour mixture.
  • Add the Nutella and turn the blender to its slowest speed. There is no need to mix the Nutella well into the mixture; allow the batter to have some marble-effect pattern.
  • Pour the batter into the loaf tin and bake for 50 – 55 minutes.
  • Once baked, let it cool before serving.

This bread is perfect for breakfast or served with your afternoon tea!
