7 TV Shows Every Woman Should Watch

If you’re lucky enough to have a bit of time to relax, here’s 7 must watch TV shows to fill your time. They’ll have you laughing, crying and completely hooked.

For those rare moments when we get a bit of time to ourselves without partners, work and life in general, sometimes all we want is to sit back and relax with some great TV. Choosing what to watch can cut into valuable viewing time though so that’s why I’ve created this list of seven shows every woman should watch. With these shows, you’ll find humor, drama, romance and much more. Some are still running while others are much loved classics but either way they’re all must see shows!

#1 New Girl, 2011-Present

When Jess, an ‘adorkable’ teacher, catches her boyfriend with another woman she needs a new place to live. Fast. Fueled by desperation, she moves in with three single guys-Nick, Schmidt and Winston-all of whom are strangers to her.

The four are all completely different and make for a dysfunctional group – a perfect recipe for a hit TV show. You’ll laugh until it hurts with this one, ladies. Well worth a watch.

#2 Hart of Dixie, 2011-Present

Hart of Dixie follows the life of doctor Zoe Hart, a charming, somewhat socially and romantically awkward doctor from New York City. When her dreams of becoming a heart surgeon falter, she accepts an offer from a stranger, Dr. Harley Wilkes, and leaves her high flying life behind to become a GP in the small town of Bluebell, Alabama. Upon arriving, Zoe discovered that Harley has passed away and left his surgery to her in his will.

You’ll love Zoe but Bluebell also introduces us to a wide range of quirky characters from straight laced lawyer George Tucker and playboy bartender Wade Kinsella to the old-fashioned enthusiast and Daddy’s girl Lemon Breeland. This is a show not to be missed!

#3 Revenge, 2011-Present

If you’re looking for something a little less sweet and with a few more thrills than your average women’s show, you’ll love Revenge.

When Emily Thorne moves to the Hamptons, she’s the focus of talk for everyone who’s anyone. She dazzles the high class social circles with her wit, grace and of course her money. At the peak of the Hamptons’s social rankings are the Grayson family and they too are drawn towards Emily, curious about their new wealthy neighbor and her mysterious past. She worries them, and rightly so.

Emily has a dark past. Once known as Amanda Clarke, she’s the daughter of David Clarke who was falsely accused and imprisoned for channeling money for terrorists. Emily is determined to seek vengeance and destroy the lives of those who set up her father, the main conspirators being the Graysons.

#4 90210, 2008-Present

It was a hit in the 90s and it’s a hit again now. 90210 is full of drama all the drama and gossip you’d expect from people living within the famed zip code.

Within days of the Wilson family moving to the area and sending their kids, Annie and Dixon, to West Beverly High School, untold drama unfolds and soon becomes the centre of all their lives. With a colorful range of characters including queen-bee Naomi and troubled Silver, 90210 is as good now as it ever was.

#5 Sex and the City, 1998-2004

It’s an oldie but it’s a classic. Despite having been off the air for 10 years, Sex and the City is a must watch for all women!

Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha-despite all four being career women, gossips and romantics, they’re all incredibly different people so no doubt every woman can find at least a little of herself in one of them. We follow the ups and downs of all four’s romantic encounters and ever changing views and theories on sex as they navigate their way through life and love in New York City.

Sex and the City is funny, enlightening and never gets old.

#6 Friends, 1994-2004

So no one told you life was gonna be this way…They certainly didn’t and that’s true for us and our six iconic friends.

Monica, Phoebe, Rachel, Ross, Chandler and Joey are six young twenty-somethings who are struggling to deal with standing on their own two feet, work, love and life in general. Through it all though, they have each other (minus a few hilarious fallouts) and when things get rough they find companionship and support are always there waiting for them.

You caught me, Friends isn’t just aimed at women but how is it possible to write a list of must watch TV shows and leave it out? Whether you just need to unwind for 20 minutes or need a pick me up, Friends should be your go-to show. Heartwarming, hilarious, ridiculous and yet still incredibly down to Earth, Friends is without a doubt one of the greatest TV shows to ever grace our screens.

#7 One Tree Hill, 2004-2012

What started off as a small show that followed the lives of a group of teens in the town of Tree Hill, fast became a much loved, hit TV phenomenon. By the time it ended (and not without a few tears!) back in 2012, we’d seen those same teens become adults, climb the career ladder and fall back down it, fall in love, get married and experience what life really is.

Despite the show primarily following five high school teens at the start, we get to take a peek into the world around them. We’re drawn into the lives and dramas of their guardians too which is great if teen drama isn’t really your thing. One Tree Hill has drama, love, sex, thrills, tears and laughter – it’s TV at it’s best.

There you have it, ladies. Now you’ve read the list it’s time to grab your cuppa, sit back and enjoy. If you can think of any other shows that should be on here, I’d love to hear from you!
