8 Awesome Albums To Get You In The Mood For Summer

Summer and sun are fast approaching but what will your summer soundtrack be? Here’re eight albums to get you ready to soak up the sun….

Easter has come and gone meaning that summer is fast approaching. Already the nights are drawing in later and the days are getting hotter; soon enough it’ll be time to hunt out our bikinis and hit the beach. But what would summer be without a soundtrack? I don’t know about you but for me summer is as much about music as it is about sun lotion and ice cream. To get you in the mood for summer, here’re eight awesome albums that will have you singing right through ’til fall….

#1 NOW That’s What I Call Feel Good

NOW Feel Good is filled with 63 (you guessed it!) feel-good tracks that will instantly get you in the mood for summer. It’s the ultimate summer compilation album that features some of your favourite artists like Katy Perry, the Spice GIrls, Olly Murs, and Stereophonics. This is the perfect album to listen to on hot summer days and will no doubt have you singing at the top of your lungs in the car.

#2 Maroon 5: Overexposed

Overexposed might be two years old this summer but that doesn’t mean we don’t still love the epic summer tunes it features. With songs like Daylight, Moves Like Jagger, One More Night, and Payphone, there’s no denying that this album should be played at BBQs for many a year to come.

#3 Busted

Seeing as Busted have teamed up with McFly for one epic tour, I felt it only right that I include Busted’s self-titled debut album on this list. The album may be over a decade old but that doesn’t stop me from rocking out on my air guitar every time I hear them. I just don’t think it’s possible not to sing along to Year 3000 and Thats What I Go To School For. They’re songs that put you in a fab mood with just the first few bars making them definite summer tunes in my opinion.

#4 Haim: Days Are Gone

Haim’s debut album Days Are Gone has been a smash-hit and launched the sisters to stardom. Their sound is contemporary, catchy, uplifting, and relaxing all at once – a rare feat. If you’re planning a chilled summer then this album will be the perfect soundtrack for you.

#5 Kid Rock: Rock N Roll Jesus

This is the perfect album to have playing while you’re enjoying a summer drive. You’ll need your windows rolled down and your volume turned up. Just picture it – glorious sunshine, beautiful scenery, a summer breeze, and All Summer Long blasting through your stereo. Perfect.

#6 Katy Perry: Teenage Dream

In just a few short years, Katy Perry has released plenty of hit songs and several albums but none are more summery than the album Teenage Dream. It features hit singles such as California Girls, The One That Got Away, and E.T making it perhaps the best of her albums so far.

#7 Avril Lavigne: Let Go

Let Go was pop-punk princess Avril Lavigne’s debut album which she released at just 17. It thrust her into the limelight, and songs such as Sk8er Boi and Complicated really put her on the map. In the decade since the album’s release, these songs have become known as summer pop-punk classics.

#8 Teenage Dirtbags

If you’re looking for something a little louder to listen to this summer, Teenage Dirtbags may just be the album for you. It’s filled with 44 pop-rock songs, each of which have been a hit single at one point or another over the years. With songs such as Shake It, All Star, Stacys Mom, and Bring Me To Life, there’s no denying that this is one awesome album. It’s perfect for singing along to in the car, livening up a BBQ, or even just making long days spent sunbathing that much more exciting.

Of course, these are but a few albums to get you in the mood for summer. There are countless others out there, each of them with some epic tracks and memorable tunes. What are your other favourite summer albums or songs? I’d love to know (my iPod isn’t nearly full enough!), so let me know by commenting below.
