Beyoncé: A Famous African-American Musician to Admire and Inspire

Beyoncé is an incredibly successful artist but did you know that she’s also an amazingly inspirational and admirable person?

Having released hits such as Single Ladies, Halo, and If I Were a Boy, Beyoncé Knowles is by far one of the most successful and well-known artists in the music industry. In 2013, she was named as the fourth most influential celebrity worldwide by Forbes magazine, and in April 2014, she became the highest earning African-American musician in history.

She’s not only an incredible artist, she’s also an amazingly inspirational person for more reasons than one. There’s a lot about Beyoncé that many people don’t know – things that make her as admirable as she is talented. Want to know what? Here’s your answer….

Career

Having wanted to be a singer from the age of seven, it’s safe to say that Beyoncé has definitely reached her goal. She was first brought to public attention when she was the lead singer of Destiny’s Child and her star has been rising ever since.

When many people look at Beyoncé’s career they may well simply say that she was lucky, not admirable however. She had a dad who could manage Destiny’s Child, saving them a lot of money, and a family who was able to give her all the right musical tuition, after all. That’s not to say her career isn’t something to admire however.

Beyoncé knew what she wanted out of life from a very young age and she never lost focus despite her family going through a few rocky patches and many rejections from record labels in her early years.

During her time in Destiny’s Child she also suffered from severe depression for two years, something which threatened her career, but still she refused to turn away from her dream.

She fought her illness and has since spoken out about it in a bid to help others through the same thing. Beyoncé’s determination is truly admirable and inspirational and she is living proof that if you want something bad enough you can have it – it’s just a matter of fighting for it.

Philanthropy

Beyoncé’s fulfilment of her dreams is truly inspirational but, personally, I think we should admire her even more for all the good she brings to the world. She uses her fame and fortune selflessly and is constantly donating to charity or performing for benefit concerts.

The star supports a minimum of twenty-seven charities and foundations, each of them varying in cause, and she actively donates or raises money in some way for each of them.

Over the years, she’s made it obvious that she deeply cares about people and is willing to do anything she can to help others.

After Hurricane Katrina hit in 2005, along with her childhood friend and former Destiny’s Child star Kelly Rowland, Beyoncé set up the Survivor Foundation to help victims in the Houston area. Since its inception, the charity’s accomplishments have been numerous, and it has made a real difference to the lives of everyone affected.

Perhaps its greatest accomplishment was the Music World Cares Christmas Carnival, an event that helped over 300 low-income homes enjoy a much needed day of fun which provided them with food, entertainment, and a memorable visit from Santa complete with gifts.

In addition to this, Beyoncé also hosted and participated in a number of food drives to help gather, food which was desperately needed by the victims of the hurricane.

While she sometimes carries out her charitable efforts discreetly, Beyoncé usually like to share with the world what she’s doing, not in an effort to make herself look good but to help spread the word of these charities and to encourage others to donate or volunteer to help others where they can. She’s a firm believer in never turning your back on others and helping those less fortunate.

I think it’s admirable that despite all her success Beyoncé is still determined to help others and her philanthropy is truly inspirational. The fact that she has a full-time career and is a mother yet still manages to find the time, energy and heart to help others is amazing to say the least.

Whether it’s Beyoncé’s journey that inspires you, her courage or her selflessness it doesn’t matter, just so long as you take something away from her memorable life so far.
