Never Forget To Show Appreciation To Your Best Friend

No one can replace your best friend—not a significant other, good friends, not even family members. Best friends do a lot for us. Here is what we need to thank them for.

I never take my best friend for granted. Even if I don’t always express how grateful I am for her, there is not a moment where I am not thankful for all she has done for me.

These are the irreplaceable things that only a best friend can do for you—and you may want to thank them for them.

1. Being non-judgmental

I have done some not so smart things in my life, and there is no one that I wanted to tell more than my best friend for one reason: I knew she wouldn’t judge me.

Even if she has judged me silently, she didn’t express it. No matter how stupid the thing is that I have done, I know that with my best friend I always can go to her, and she will have an open ear and open mind.

It is very rare to find this in someone, and worth thanking them for.

2. Joining in your craziness

There is no one more fun than your best friend to do crazy things with and just let loose with. My best friend is one of the people I have the most fun in the world with because she joins in my crazy ways and elevates them.

Ranging from anything innocent like blasting music in the car and singing along to the less innocent, I can always count on my best friend to join in, and make anything more fun.

3. Being honest

Sometimes, the truth can be hard to hear—even when it needs to be heard. A best friend is not truly there for you if they aren’t blunt with you or don’t tell you the truth about things.

My best friend does not sugarcoat anything, and I do not do the same for her. Of course, in the moment, it may not be what I want to hear, but I always know later on that it was what I had to hear. No one will be honest with you like your best friend will; it is only because they love you.

4. Being understanding

I have an array of health issues, and no one is more understanding about it than my best friend. She does so much for me to make me feel comfortable and at ease everywhere we go, no matter how anxious I may be.

Best friends understand everything, no matter what it is you are going through, and they understand it on a level that no one else can.

5. Being the person you tell your secrets to

One of the greatest things about having a best friend is that they are the one you share all your secrets with, from the not-so-dirty to the dirty little secrets.

There is no one else I want to tell my darkest secrets to besides my best friend. This goes hand-in-hand with them not judging what you have to say.

Your deepest, darkest secrets are meant for you best friend’s ears, and theirs only.

6. Being everything in one

Best friends are pretty much everything wrapped in one: they are your best friend, your significant other as well (we go on dates all the time; it’s a thing) and, most importantly, your family.

There is no other person you will find that all in, which is one of the things that makes a best friend so special and such an important addition to your life.

7. For letting you open up

I have difficulty opening up to people. I know that my best friend is always there when I have something to say that has been weighing heavily on my mind.

I have told my best friend things I have not told anyone else, and they have been the first person to know very personal things about me that I couldn’t open up about to any other person.

Best friends are the people who know the deeper layers of you that no one else knows—they get past the tip of the iceberg.

8. Making it feel like everything will be okay

Having a best friend is such a positive thing overall. Sure, you have your disagreements and can never see eye-to-eye one hundred percent, but they are still one of the most important people in your life.

They will always be there for you no matter what, anytime of day. I know that in life, no matter what, everything will be okay because I always have my best friend by my side.

That is something to be thankful for, and they should know that. So, to my best friend: thank you for everything you do and, most importantly, for being you. That is what I love best about you.
