10 Awesome Apps to Kickstart Your Morning

Starting the morning on a high can be tough, but with these 10 apps you’ll be able to wake up on the right side of the bed each and every day.

For most of us, the first thing we do when we wake up every morning is check our mobiles be it to gather updates on the weather, check our emails, or see what the social network has to say. Despite this, getting out of bed can be a chore though. We stare at the screen with blurry eyes, wondering why we can’t just roll over slip back into our dreams.

Thankfully, this doesn’t have to be the case. Believe it or not, there are some incredible apps that can kickstart your morning and make waking up seem, well, fun. I know, it’s hard to believe but here are 10 such apps to kickstart your morning.

Hitting the snooze button time and again may be sweet but it’s hardly beneficial, which is why the creators of Alarmy decided to take that luxurious option away. When you set your alarm, you have to take a picture of something and then when morning comes your alarm won’t quit until you take the same picture again, forcing you to get up. While it may sound a little horrible, it’s highly useful if you have places to be. Perhaps take a picture of the coffee machine?

#2 Ted Talks

This app is packed with thousands of twenty-minutes-or-less clips of scientists, educators, musicians, and luminaries who all have some wisdom to share. You can listen or watch as you go about your morning routine and will be able to leave for work that bit wiser and with an interesting thought to ponder.

#3 Morning! Smart Alarm Clock

Morning Smart Alarm Clock app

For those of you who religiously check the weather, traffic updates, your emails, and schedule when you wake up, Morning! is a great app that allows you to do all this at the click of a button instead of trawling through several separate apps.

You’ll be woken by an alarm of your choice and then you can either choose to read through all the info or, if you’re feeling a bit sluggish, you can have it read aloud to you.

#4 Flipboard

Newspapers and magazines are great, but they’re lacking in the fact that they’re not tailored to us personally. Thankfully, Flipboard is.

This beautifully designed app works around you so whether you want to read about technology, movies, the weather, or the news, you can. Everything you want is right there in one place for you to flip through at your leisure. It can also be synced with Facebook and Twitter, so you can get social updates as you flip, too.

#5 Sworkit

They say that morning is the best time to exercise, especially since it boosts our metabolism, but when we’re tired it’s often the last thing on our minds. Sworkit aims to change that, however, and encourages users to do between five and twenty minutes of circuit training before they hustle out the door. That’s right, you can choose to only do five minutes! Each circuit is a mix of cardio, yoga, and strength training and requires nothing more than a few spare minutes and your own body to complete.

To save you from that, Sleep Cycle analyzes your movements and breathing while you snooze and can recognize how deeply you’re sleeping. As a result, it wakes you up when you’re sleeping lightly so that when you rise you’ll instantly feel more awake and ready. (Just be sure to set a backup alarm if you have an early morning meeting!)

One thing I hate is loud, beeping alarms. They’re annoying and a great way to guarantee you’ll wake up grumpy. Waky can change all that, however.
