3 Great Tips on How to Get Organized at Home

Every woman in this world has experienced this. Between your job, your house, your husband and your children, there is simply not enough time to do everything you’re supposed to do. You sometimes feel like you need the day to last for at least 26 hours, in order to get everything done. But it’s not all that dark and hard. If you want to know how to get organized at home – keep reading.

1. Delegate

This is the most important thing when it comes to running a household, and most women never do this. You don’t need to do everything yourself, despite what your mother may have thought you. Delegate!

Divide the chores among the house members. Get your husband to help you clean. It will be faster, more efficient and you will have more time for each other, and for your kids. Get the children to help too. They can do some minor chores like taking out smaller bags of trash and maybe help you with cooking.

Children usually find it really interesting to help in the kitchen, so use that. If your children are teenagers, they should at least clean their own rooms. A lot of teenagers will agree with this, just because they usually want you out of their rooms, so they’d rather clean it themselves than let you in.

2. Multitasking

One of the important new skills to learn is multitasking. This especially works in the kitchen. For example, if you’re making lunch, while the meat is frying, you can chop the salad, while the soup is cooking, you can do the dishes.

There are lots of little chores you can perform at the same time. They may not seem a lot when seen separately, but when you look at the bigger picture, you’ll see that you’ve managed to save maybe a whole extra hour, or even a couple of hours every day by performing them simultaneously.

3. Relax

The world is not going to end if you don’t dust every day. Set your priorities – your family needs to eat every day, so you need to cook every day, but you really don’t have to vacuum, or clean the yard every day.

Don’t bring more work on yourself than you already have. It will just stress you out. It will also make you a cranky woman that looses her grip every time the kids spill something and she has to clean it.

Relax a little. Order a food once in a while. Everything will still be ok with your children if they have a pizza for dinner once a week instead of a healthy dinner. Use that extra time to relax with your family, or to do something for yourself, like reading a couple of pages of your favorite book, or watching your favorite show.

You can also establish one day a week when your husband will cook. This could be weekend for example, especially if your husband works during the week. You can call it an experimental day – or “let’s see if dad can cook” day. Your children will like that, and you’ll have a little more time to do something else. And all of you will have a great time.

It is not that hard to get organized at home, but you have to remember that you are not a super woman and that you need help once in a while. And what’s most important; ask for help when you need it. Don’t expect your family members to see that it’s hard for you, because they can’t know that, unless you say something.
