3 Reasons Why Kefir Is Good for You

Kefir’s grains contain plenty of beneficial bacteria and yeast. This explains why it is often called “the miracle drink” or “the drink of the centenarians”. Let’s take a look at 3 major reasons why kefir is good for you.

It promotes a healthy immune system and protects our body against many illnesses, infections and other diseases

Kefir Keeps Your Intestinal Flora Healthy and Fights Harmful Bacteria

Kefir has its origins centuries ago in Caucasus Mountains. It is made by fermenting milk with kefir grains that are similar to tiny clumps of cauliflowers, wheat grain size or bigger, that no other milk product forms.

This drink also provides many vitamins, minerals and proteins and boasts numerous rewarding health benefits.

It contains more than 30 probiotic cultures that can alleviate and treat many intestinal conditions, such as candidiasis, diarrhea, constipation, as well as restore the intestinal flora of people who have been seriously sick or have been cured with antibiotics.

Its friendly bacteria, i.e. probiotics, will inhabit our intestinal flora and alter its acidity. They can fight off harmful bacteria, viruses and fungi. All this will have extremely positive effect on our entire body.

Kefir can help regulate and enhance bowel function. It can reduce flatulence, bloating, as well as give relief to a full, tight and painful stomach.

Drinking kefir is a good way to increase the amount of friendly bacteria in our intestines and maintain our body healthy.

Kefir Can Help You Relax and Reduce Anxiety

Woman in 40s

Kefir is rich in vitamins A, B1, B12, D and K, tryptophan and biotin (a water-soluble B-complex vitamin, which helps the body assimilate other B Vitamins).

It has a relaxing effect on the nervous system. Also, it may relieve symptoms of anxiety and benefit people who have sleeping problems. It also has positive effects on depression, as well as on ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder).

Vitamin B12 contained in kefir is essential for the proper functioning of the brain and the nervous system, and reduces anxiety. It helps our mind control stress and stay sharp and clear, while vitamin D reduces nervousness and prevents and treats tension headaches.

It is also abundant in tryptophan, an essential amino acid that our body uses to produce serotonin, which promotes relaxing effects on our brain.

Minerals contained in kefir, such as calcium, magnesium and phosphorus, will additionally aid in maintaining our nervous system healthy and in good function.

Rejuvenate Your Skin

Studies have shown that including kefir in your regular diet will make your skin look better and younger and prevent acne, psoriasis, and other skin disorders, as well as wrinkles.

Alpha hydroxy acid penetrates the skin tissue and helps remove these dead skin cells from the skin’s surface.

Probiotics contained in it are also of vital importance for our skin’s health. They help digestion and fight off the bad intestinal bacteria.

So, drink as much kefir as you can!

There are many skin products enriched with kefir, available on the market. It is also very easy to prepare many efficient home made masks by using this highly beneficial beverage.

  • try making kefir in high speed blender with either rose water which really helps to relax you, ice cubes and mango pieces or fresh watermelon and sprigs of fresh mint and there you go wonderful!!!!!! I also add some stevia if you like and enjoy!

  • I just started making water kefir, after a friend of mine gave me the crystals because hers multiplied. The effect I noticed right away is the feeling of calmness and relaxation it gives me. I am normally a very anxious person with low level of frustration. It has been a lifelong struggle for me to stay calm. I wish I knew of this before.
