How to Get a Celebrity to Follow You on Twitter

It’s possible! When the lights turn off - Celebrities are ordinary people, just like you and me. Find out the DO’s and DON’Ts on How to Get Your Favorite Celebrity to Follow You on Twitter.

Is it fair to say that sometimes you sneak-peak a celebrity’s account, just to see what’s new in their lives? Don’t worry, I don’t judge. It’s like a live tabloid show and you’re in the front row! How many times have you wished that your favorite celebrity follows you on twitter? Wouldn’t it be awesome if your twits appear on their timeline?

Imagine Katy Parry or Kanye West mentioning your name or hitting star button right next to something that you wrote! Do you still think it’s impossible? Well think again cause here’s how you can attract a Celebrity to Follow You on Twitter:

1. Choose Your Celebrity Carefully

Your favorite celebrity is on twitter but – is it really them? How can you know it’s not another false account or just their Record Label? If their tweets are mostly based on promotions, tour news or when their next video is coming out – it’s their PR. You don’t need that on your timeline – hit unfollow. Find your celebrities true account and follow them, not their spokesperson. That way, once they follow you back, you can be sure it’s the real deal and not another marketing hoax.

2. Creating an Image

If you want a celebrity to follow you back, you must create an interesting visual identity. Nicknames like ImSoCrazzzy93 are never going to get you there. You need a striking username, with a pinch of mystery in it. Create a strong twitter personality that is worth following. Write humorous twits but never over the line and offensive. Twitting outside the box is essential to your cause. Write something that says – Hey this is me and I’m as fabulous as you are. Give them a reason to follow you.

3. Twit’O’Clock

Little Blue Twitter Birdie

Find out when is your celebrity most active on Twitter. Is it in the morning, before jogging or in the afternoon between two sets? Or even after midnight when it’s silent and they can relax? This is important because you want to get their attention when they’re online. Proper timing gets you far better chances at being followed. Install an application that will do the math for you.

4. Ordinary People

If you treat them as super stars and re-twit everything they write, you’re far from appearing on their timeline. It’s hard to realize that when the makeup is off and the lights are down, they are simple boys and girls. Maybe they have no idea which movie to watch tonight and you can help them pick one. If your favorite celeb needs a manicure idea for the upcoming event, be sure to give an advice and share the experience. Be funny, easygoing and don’t smother them with love.

5. No Sucking Up!

I simply can’t stress this enough. No one likes a suck up. There is no way to correspond to a celebrity. They are aware of their awesomeness and although most of them really appreciate your fandom, go easy on imposing. The whole idea is to follow back because YOU are awesome, not because they are. Stay cool and pretend you don’t care.

There you have it. It’s really no rocket science once you realize popularity doesn’t make them any less human. Fame is just a job. Outside from that, many are simple, relaxed people hungry for sharing experiences like the rest of us.

One tip for the road – Once they follow you back, avoid public explosion of happiness like OMG YOU GUYS LILY ALLEN JUST FOLLOWED ME – that won’t make you look cool or independent at all. Twit away!
