How to Throw a Garden Party in 6 Easy Steps

Wondering how to throw a garden party? If you own a backyard or a garden of any sort, here is a list of things you need to keep in mind in order to organize a successful garden party everyone will remember.

1. Choose the Right Date

Check out the weather forecast for the week. If you don’t have a porch or some other area for people to stand under in case of rain, try to avoid rainy days. You don’t want to be forced to make everybody go inside. Your garden party will then turn into just another house party.

2. Set the Scene

It’s always good to have a theme for your party. Even if you decide not to have anything specific, you should definitely come up with at least with some concept. If you do, it will be easier for you to plan out everything else. You should also decide on what to wear, the invitations and, of course, envision the decorations.

3. The Menu

This is very important. You should decide on the menu well in advance since you might need time to prepare or order the food. Depending on the type of party you are planning, you can go for anything, from BBQ to some fancy seafood appetizers.

You should also make sure that you have enough food. Enough means that there will be some leftovers. If there aren’t any, that is a clear sign that it wasn’t enough.

4. The Drinks

alcoholic drinks

The same thing goes for the drinks. You should have a little something for everyone’s taste. If you go for cocktails for example that might as well be the theme for your party. You also need to make sure you have enough drinks for everybody. This is even more important than having enough food.

5. The Music

The choice of music is also important and when you are throwing a garden party the situation is a tad different. Since the event is taking place outside, you need music that is just loud enough so that everybody can hear it, but not too loud to avoid troubles with your neighbors. It would be just great if you could have some friends coming over who wouldn’t mind playing their guitars or other instruments and singing at your party.

6. The Day Has Come – Be the Best Host

The day of your garden party will probably have to start early in the morning. You’ll need to arrange for the drinks to be delivered to your home, make the food or bring the food you ordered, dress up the tables, make sure you have enough seats (just about enough but not too many), decorate your garden, get ready for the party yourself and wait for the guests to come.

To be a good host, all you have to do is make sure that you planned out everything carefully, that you have enough of everything and that you are relaxed and having fun. If you have a nice garden, that’s already half of what you have to do for your garden party to be a success. Just make sure you did everything in order, and your guests will remember your garden party for a long time.
