4 Most Inspiring Dalai Lama Techniques to Brace You

I don’t know about you, but whenever someone mentions Dalai Lama, the first thing that comes to mind is peace and serenity. I’ve been trying for years to come up with some techniques that will help me relax and see the world the way the Buddhist see it. After years of research, I’ve found these four most inspiring Dalai Lama techniques. I hope you can use them for your own enjoyment!

1. Meditation in the Morning

The first thing that comes to mind when you think of Dalai Lama is meditation, of course. To learn how to meditate means to learn how to relax and deal with everyday problems in the easiest way.

It is very important to meditate in the early morning. It will be hard at first, but once you get used to getting up early, it’ll all be fine. It’s best to wake up before sunrise and start your meditation as the sun starts rising. Your mind is clearest in the morning, even if it might not feel that way, and you will benefit the most out of meditation if you do it early in the morning.

Sit down comfortably facing the East. Straighten your back and position your hands either on your knees, in a praying position or in any other comfortable position. Close your eyes and open your mind. Let the morning sun shine on you and fill you with positive energy. Try not to think about your problems or things that need to be done by the end of the day. Just relax and enjoy being alive and being able to see the sun rising.

2. You Don’t Always Have to Get What You Want

I’ve been facing some bad things in my life and haven’t always been able to get all the things I’ve wanted. It took me a while to find a job and I sometimes felt like all the odds were against me. Then one day, I opened a book of Dalai Lama quotes and came across something that has since then been putting a smile on my face.

“Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck”. These words of Dalai Lama XIV have been carved into my memory ever since I’ve read them for the first time. I started to remember how much I wanted a certain job that I didn’t get and how I later saw people who work there being exhausted, working at least 6 days a week in three shifts and I realized how lucky I was that I didn’t get that job.

You don’t always have to get what you want. After all, who knows why that is good for you? If you miss out on something you wanted, it only means that there is something even better out there waiting for you – a better job, a better partner, a better life. Don’t be sad about the things you didn’t get, but rather focus on those that are yet to come to you and welcome them with open arms.

3. Be Kind

There was another Dalai Lama quote that I embraced as a technique that has changed my life for better. It said “Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible”. This quote simply braced me when I read it for the first time, and ever since I’ve been doing my best to live my life according to it.

Be a kind person, to everyone. No matter if they really annoy you or are being really bad to you. Being kind to someone who isn’t kind to you or isn’t expecting your kindness is a better punishment than being rude to them. Furthermore, you can manage to teach them to be kind too.

Don’t hold grudges and don’t make enemies. Forgive for everything you can and let go. The anger you may be carrying inside you is hurting you more than it is hurting the person you are angry with. Release your anger and replace it with kindness. The moment you achieve that is the moment your new life begins.

4. Be Happy

I always thought of Buddhists as really happy people. They always seem so relaxed and satisfied with their lives. Even though they may be going through tough times, they look like they can always find a way to overcome that and be happy. I wanted to learn that too.

The learning process starts with meditation and learning to let go. Once you learn that, there is only one thing left to remember – “Happiness is not something readymade. It comes from your own actions.” Once you realize that you can’t just sit and wait for happiness to hit you, but you need to get up and work hard on being happy – you are on a great road to become a happy and satisfied person. Remember that good things in life don’t come easy but universe rewards those who try hard. Work on your happiness and it will come.
