Which Honeymoon Should I Pick?

A lot of couples struggle with this decision every year – which honeymoon destination should I pick? The girl would always want either a romantic place or a shopping tour, while the guy is into something totally different. So how can you agree on a place? Here are a couple of things.

1. It Has to Be Something You Both Like

Yes, you’ve read it right, you can’t just go and pick a place for your honeymoon yourself. Your husband has a saying and he needs to be involved too. Decide on a place together and choose something you both like.

You probably won’t agree on visiting Paris, guys are really not into it very much, as well as you won’t agree on going on football game. But there’s always a solution. You could, for example, choose to visit Barcelona, where you could indulge your artistic soul and visit all the beautiful museums and give your husband a special present by taking him to see the famous Camp Nou football stadium. See, it’s not really that hard to find a mutual interest.

2. Beach Honeymoon

Most couples choose to go to a beach honeymoon. This is some kind of a classic for honeymooning, but it is also something that could be quite unfriendly for your budget.

So What Are the Advantages?

Well, come on, it’s a beach honeymoon. What can be wrong with warm clear water and sandy beaches? You could sunbathe and swim or even engage in some kind of water sports, or diving or snorkeling. Sipping cocktails and watching the sun sets in the horizon could fire up some romantic feelings and give you a night full of passion.

And What About the Disadvantages?

It could get boring, especially for the guy. I know that my man would hate it if I chose a beach for our honeymoon. If you choose a quiet place with not many activities and things to do, a simple rain could ruin everything, because the only thing that you could do is stay in your room.

If you’re going to a tropical island, make sure you ask about the quality of tap water, you don’t want your honeymoon to be ruined with stomach problems. Also, if there are any vaccines that should be taken – take them.

3. Mountain Honeymoon

Mountain could be a fantastic place for your honeymoon, no matter the season you choose. Of course, if you’re into winter sports go during the winter months, but mountains could be wonderful the whole year around.

So What Are the Advantages?

I would have to say, the possibility of solitude and really spending some quality time with each other. Just imagine the two of you snuggling in front of a fireplace while it’s snowing outside. I would definitely recommend staying in a hut rather than in a hotel room, in order to live the full mountain experience.

And What About the Disadvantages?

Apart from the fact that you will most likely be cold if you choose winter months, there is also a possibility of being snowed in. Make sure you check the weather forecast thoroughly before you leave and be fully equipped for any type of winter induced shenanigans. Warm clothes and winter equipment for your car are a must.

If you choose warmer months make sure to bring your sunscreen. Lots of people forget it, but you can actually end up with serous sunburns on a mountain. Also, if you’re allergic to pollen, don’t forget your anti-histamines.

4. Adventurous Honeymoon

This is definitely my choice of honeymoon. I would like some kind of adrenaline fix, and trying out something new. After all, that would be a honeymoon to remember, right?

So What Are the Advantages?

Basically, all of it. Not only that you will have a chance to spend some time away with your beloved man, but you will also have a chance to be engaged in a completely new and breathtaking experience. According to your preferences, you can choose to go skydiving, bungee jumping, paragliding, swimming with sharks, exploring caves – whatever comes across your mind.

And the first place that comes across my mind is – New Zealand. It has all the adventure of Australia, but without all the poisonous creatures.

And What About the Disadvantages?

Generally, I would love to say that there are absolutely no disadvantages of an adventurous honeymoon, but that would be a lie. There is one big disadvantage to it and that’s that you may end up seriously hurting yourself.

Trying new things that pump up your adrenaline is truly amazing, but it does carry risks. Make sure that you choose trustworthy people to guide you through your adventures. After all, you want a fantastic memory, not a broken bone as well.

5. Touring Honeymoon

Not very popular among honeymooners, but I really never understood why. It could be because you will spend most of the time travelling from one place to another, when you would like to stay in one place and spend some time alone. But for me, this type of honeymoon carries a lot of great stuff that top that.

So What Are the Advantages?

Seeing a lot of things at once. Really, if you choose to go to Venice for your honeymoon for example, you will find out that after a couple of days you’ve seen everything you wanted to and that you now don’t exactly know what to do.

Well, you could travel further and see Rome, or even go to a completely different country. I would say that touring Europe if possibly by your own car, is absolutely the best choice. Choose places you would like to see, make a plan and start a road trip that you will remember for the rest of your life.

And What About the Disadvantages?

You’ll probably plan too many things to see and either end up missing some of them or rushing through all of them. I couldn’t agree more that there are really a lot of wonderful places to see in Europe and the world generally, but you can’t see them all in one honeymoon.

Don’t plan to visit more than 3 countries. Rather spend a couple of days more in one city and really get to see it than travel from one place to another, always rushing to see the next thing. There will be other opportunities for the two of you to travel and each one of them should bring you a fun and relaxed time instead of stress.

I believe that whichever honeymoon you choose you will have a wonderful time. It’s your honeymoon after all. Someone could probably lock the two of you up in a room and you would be sufficient to each other.

Still, it is a chance to see and do something new and wonderful and you should definitely use it. Chose the type of honeymoon that suits you and your husband best and start the adventure of your life.

So, where are you two going?
