When you get together with a guy you really like, you never want to think about him breaking your heart and dumping you, but recently you’ve been getting really weird vibes and your guy is not acting the same. Does he have a problem? Does he have another girlfriend? Is he about to dump you?
Oh God, your mind is running like crazy and you don’t know what to think and there’s no way that you can just come out and ask him, what if it’s not true? Here are a few signs that he may just be on the verge of breaking up with you.
#1 He’s Making Excuses Not To Spend Time With You
Before you start jumping the gun and go and dump him before he dumps you, take into consideration that if this is the only sign then he may have some pressing issues that he needs to take care of and he just can’t tell you about them yet.
Do you hardly ever spend time with your guy anymore? When you call does he just not answer the phone or when he does answer you hear a distinct clattering of glasses that tell you he’s out socializing somewhere else?
Remember guys need boy time as well – like you, they enjoy hanging out with their buddies, but if this is frequently happening and he forgoes all commitments with you to hang with the guys, then this could be the prequel to a breakup.
#2 You Hardly Have Sex Anymore
Again this sign alone is not really a sure sign he’s going to break up with you; it could be that he’s not feeling well or is feeling stressed.
However, if your guy was the guy who couldn’t get enough of you and your body before and wanted sex every hour of every day, then there could be more reason for concern. You can talk about it gently with him, but don’t force him to speak.
If he is going through some problems, it may take him a little longer to open up because men generally don’t share their feelings as much.
Just, whatever you do, don’t go in there all accusatory because this is just going to push him away even more.
#3 He Isn’t as Lovey-dovey Anymore
Maybe you’re still having sex, but you’ve definitely noticed that he’s not as affectionate anymore.
Before, he used to hold your hand in public and wasn’t afraid to give you a kiss on the street as you went to work or perhaps when you try to get closer to him, he always finds a way of backing off.
This is a bigger sign than not having sex anymore because for men and sex it’s sometimes just about fulfilling their needs; however, if he is no longer wanting to get close to you in public and in private, then this could be a sign that he no longer wants to have a relationship and he’s trying to send you a subtle message.
#4 He Takes Calls In Private
Before, he had no problem answering all calls in front of you whether they were work related, his mom or his best friend. Lately, the phone has been ringing red hot and every time it does ring, he leaves the room to speak to whoever’s on the other end. When you ask him who it is, he replies it is work related.
Secretive telephone calls, lots of text messages and messages on Whatsapp are not good signs and it could mean that he’s about to leave you; not only that, it could be a sign he is having an affair – why else does he always have to speak in private?
#5 He’s Too Busy For You
Excuses, excuses, excuses…he has them all. Work meetings, birthday engagements, sick dog, you name it and he’s got it. All of a sudden he’s really busy and when you talk to his co-worker he mentions that it’s really quiet at the office… warning bells should be ringing and this could be his way of avoiding you and no longer wanting to spend time with you. This could be his coward’s way of wanting to break up.
#6 He No Longer Calls
He used to call you a lot. He would call you at night to check in and wish you sweet dreams, but these days he’s not picking up the phone at all and you find yourself in the position of calling him all the time. He hasn’t lost his phone – that’s ridiculous because these days there are plenty of other ways to let you know.
If he’s gone underground all of a sudden and doesn’t bother to call even when you’re sick then it could be that he is going to call it quits on the relationship.
#7 He Throws Himself Into His Job
Guys can be pretty gutless when it comes to breaking up with their girlfriends; if guys feel that the relationship is heading south, they have the tendency to take on much more than usual to try and avoid the situation.
When he doesn’t need to be at work and he chooses to go there voluntarily instead of spending some valuable time with you then you should know that there’s something up and your relationship is trouble.
#8 Conversations Have No Substance
When your relationship was stronger you were having all kinds of intimate conversations. You shared secrets, talked about friends and families, talked about your goals and possibly even your future.
Now you find yourselves struggling for conversation and he prefers to keep the conversations more neutral and generic such as talking about the weather or work.
These aren’t intimate topics and it could be his way of trying to distance himself from you in preparation of a breakup.
#9 He Doesn’t Invite You To Hang Out With His Friends Anymore
When you and your boyfriend first hooked up, he was eager to show you off. His friends hit it off with you and you even went out on a number of couples’ evenings.
These engagements still happen, but the big difference is that he no longer wants you there so he just doesn’t invite you anymore. You’ll notice that he prefers to have a lot more ‘boys’ nights out’ and activities that don’t involve you.
This could be a way of disconnecting you from his social circle so he will have his friends’ full support when he does break up with you.
These are a just a few of the most common signs that men show when they are about to break a woman’s heart and dump them.
As horrible as you may be feeling right now, try to get to the root of the problem and communicate with him, and if you can’t get through to him and he’s not opening up then you’ve got to wonder yourself whether you want to continue dating a guy who just won’t grow up and act like an adult.
