What Makes Men Want to Be In a Relationship with You?

Are you still looking for Mr. Right? Have you found a man and want to make him yours? Are you wondering if you have what it takes to keep your man? Here are 10 things than make men want to be in a relationship with you.

Sex is easy. People are physically attracted to each other all the time and many of us have no problem going home for a night with someone we desire. So what makes having a relationship so difficult? Why is it that there are still so many single women out there looking for “the one?”
If you’re one of those ladies, then there’s a good chance you don’t truly understand what makes him want to be in a relationship with you. You can find a guy just about anywhere, and you can have all sorts of relationships, but when it comes to finding a quality guy, and the kind you want, here are 10 things he’s looking for (and it isn’t your body).

#1 You Give Him Space

Any woman knows that a man needs his space. Actually women need this, too. The point is that if you want a man to think of you as quality relationship material then you need to give him his space. A man appreciates it when you don’t have to know where he’s been all the time, you don’t have to know who he’s with, and you definitely don’t have to text him every ten minutes.

#2 You Are Fun to Be Around

If you want to be relationship material, you have to be fun to be around. That being said, there are different ideas of “fun.” Maybe your ideal man is a party animal who can drink everyone under the table and still make wild passionate love to you all morning. If so, then you have to be his kind of fun (he’s not going to want a bookworm). On the other hand, if you’re dating a sci-fi geek and you can’t handle Comicons or Star Trek movie nights, then you aren’t going to be any fun to him. Look for the kind of man who’s your kind of fun.

#3 You Accept Him as He Is

Probably the most important aspect of being relationship material is accepting him for who he is. Don’t try to change him into someone he’s not. Yes, we all make little changes for our partner, maybe it’s a different hairstyle or maybe we learn to appreciate a good slasher film, but you are not relationship material if you’re trying to mold him into who you think he should be. Also, his past is his past. Leave it in the past and accept him for who his is today and tomorrow.

#4 You Respect Yourself

If you really want to be considered relationship material, you have to respect yourself. You cannot, under any circumstances, let him treat you like dirt. No man will ever want a relationship with a woman who lets him use her. He’ll use you and be done. Have self-respect. Don’t let him get by with bad behavior. Be true to yourself, and don’t change for him. If you want to be relationship material, you have to be his partner…his equal – not someone he can chew up and spit back out.

#5 You Make the Effort

Men notice when you make the effort in a relationship, and that makes you relationship material. If one argument makes you want to walk out the door, then he’ll assume you’ll always have one foot out the door already. Relationships take time and effort. If you can’t show him that you’re willing to put in that time and effort, he won’t try to have a meaningful relationship with you.

#6 You Keep Yourself Looking Good

Okay, yes, looks are important…but not the way you think. Contrary to popular belief, men aren’t interested in having the “perfect” woman. I know so many men who love their very average woman! You don’t have to be a supermodel or go to the gym every day. You do, however, have to keep clean. Shower, put on a little make-up, and brush your hair, woman. You’ll never have a relationship with a guy who thinks you’re a mess.

#7 You are Kind

It’s not true…men don’t love bitches. Sure, they love a woman who sticks up for herself and who has self-confidence, but if you’re kicking puppies and shooing off little kids, then he’s going to think twice about having you in his life. Men want a woman who is genuinely kind-hearted. I know it doesn’t seem that way (I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard “You’re just too mice to date”), but the right man, a quality man, will see your kindness as a strength, not a weakness. Nobody wants to be with a cold-hearted lover.

#8 Your Intelligence

If you want to be the kind of woman a guy wants to be in a relationship with then you have to be intelligent. Let me tell you something, I’ve dated guys who prefer to be “the smart one” in the relationship and it was very condescending. A quality man worth having a relationship with will admire your intelligence – he’ll be proud of you for it! A real relationship is all about the mental attraction as well as the physical attraction. After you’re too old to have sex, there’s nothing left but your brains.

#9 Your Self-Confidence

Men notice when a woman has confidence in herself. If you know you’re capable of something, then don’t act like you aren’t. Be proud of your achievements, be confident in your dreams and goals, and he will want to be with you. Confidence is contagious.

#10 Your Independence

If you want to be in a relationship then remember it’s not just his independence, but yours as well. You have to be the kind of woman who can do her own thing without checking to see if it’s okay with him. Be your own person and don’t be the kind of person who loses her identity when you’re with him.
Relationships are difficult, but in order to be the kind of woman a man wants to be in a relationship with then you must remember to be his equal, his partner, not his doormat.

So, what do you think makes good relationship material?
