Why Being An Emotional Girlfriend Is A Good Thing

You cry at the drop of a hat and seem to feel things more intensely than anyone else you know. Here’s why being emotional will make you the best girlfriend ever.

If you cry at commercials and when you hear your favorite song, you probably think that you’re too emotional—and you may think that’s a bad thing.

Life is pretty tough sometimes, and everyone is walking around with a million thoughts running through their heads all the time—and feeling about a million things, too. They just might not spill their emotions as much as you do.

If your emotional nature has spelled doom for your past relationships, don’t worry. You weren’t actually the problem—you just haven’t met the right person yet. Here’s why it’s good to be an emotional girlfriend.

1. You always know how you feel

You know those wishy-washy people who aren’t sure how they feel after a first date? Yeah, that’s definitely not you. You live by your emotions, and you can tell pretty quickly whether you’re into a guy or not. That’s really awesome because you save yourself a lot of time and hurt.

When you reach that frustrating point of a relationship where you know the writing is totally on the wall, you can recognize how your feelings have changed and do the right thing (aka give the awkward break-up speech).

2. You follow your gut

It’s amazing how many people don’t live by their gut. The truth is that you have instincts for a reason, so you might as well listen to them.

When you’re an emotional person, that means you follow your gut on a daily basis. You do this automatically without even having to think about it, and that’s really great. You’ll always get out of bad situations (like a first date where the guy is weird and creepy) and you’ll stand behind your romantic choices, knowing they were the right ones.

3. You can weed out people

It’s safe to say that not all guys are going to be cool with an emotional girlfriend. You’ve probably already been called crazy more times than you want to admit.

But you’re not crazy. It’s so much better to feel things instead of just pretending that everything is perfect and amazing. Not every guy will love your personality, but that’s okay because you have to hold out for the one who will. You know that when someone isn’t cool with how much you feel, you can move on to the next date.

4. You’re caring and loyal

When you feel a lot of things on a regular basis, that just means that you’re a really caring person. That makes you a loyal friend and girlfriend, too. Those qualities are exactly what guys are looking for in a partner (even if they don’t exactly know it yet).

You treat your best friends’ successes like your own and you always want the people in your world to be as happy as possible. After all, you want to be friends with your partner, right? That’s pretty much the relationship dream.

5. You’re a passionate person

Passionate people make the world go round. They’re fun, funny, smart and they stand for something. They’re ambitious and aren’t content to just sit back and let things happen to them. Nope, they make things happen.

That’s you. You’re an emotional, passionate person and you just want the best for yourself—that goes for your relationships, too. You’ll fight until the end to achieve your goals and dreams.

When you want a real relationship, you will do everything in your power to make sure that things work out. Sure, that means you watch more action movies and sports games than you want to because you want to spend as much time with your boyfriend as possible, but you don’t think that’s the worst thing ever.

6. You don’t beat around the bush

Relationships live or die by how good or terrible both people are at communicating. You can’t help but be honest with whomever you’re dating. It’s just the way that you’re wired. This is a really good thing, though. You won’t ignore small problems until they become massive and you won’t accept anything less but the respectful treatment that you deserve.

7. You have no regrets

When you’re not in tune with your emotions, you can sometimes go back and forth after making certain decisions—especially when it comes to love and romance. You wonder if you should have given that guy another chance. You feel bad about turning down a second date. You’re never really sure if you’re doing the right thing.

That’s not you, though. You have no regrets when it comes to how you live your life and that extends to your love life. You always say what you feel and you can’t imagine being any other way.

8. You force your boyfriend to open up

It’s become a stereotype that guys are emotionally immature and can’t open up about how they feel—about anything, really, but especially about the girl they’re dating.

When you’re emotional, you’re a perfect girlfriend because you basically force your boyfriend to open up to you. You won’t stand for anything less. You’re not the kind of person who shoves their feelings down deep and ignores how they feel, so you can’t date someone who acts that way.

You automatically get whomever you’re dating to tell you what they’re thinking and feeling because whether you’re having a tiny disagreement or a heated argument, you can’t keep your emotions locked up deep inside you. You have to speak and let them out.

This might mean that you say goodbye to a lot of good guys because they can’t be open and honest with you, but that’s okay. That’s just part of this whole deal called life.

It’s not always easy being an emotional girl, but it’s definitely nothing to be ashamed of, and it doesn’t have to ruin all your relationships. Are you a highly emotional person? Do you think it makes you a good girlfriend? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below!
