Get Smooth Legs After Shaving in 5 Easy Steps

Many girls experience this same problem – after you shave your legs, your skin gets all dry, itchy and not very pretty. Don’t worry, it doesn’t have to be that way. Your legs could be perfectly smooth, and beautiful, after shaving. Find out how.

There is no big secret to this issue, really. You simply have to follow these 5 easy steps and everything will be just fine.

1. Start with Peeling

The whole process should start with you giving your legs a good peeling treatment before you shave them. You can do this with a special scrub shower gel.

This should be done for two reasons. First, the peeling will remove all the dead skin from your legs, which will make them smoother. Second, it will release most of the ingrown hair.

2. Use Special Shave Creams

Most of us shave our legs with the same shower gel we shower with. Although there’s nothing wrong with this practice, if you’re looking for really smooth legs, it’s better to buy special moisturizing shave creams.

I’ve tried a lot of these and I personally find Gillette Satin Care Shave Gel Sensitive Skin with Aloe Vera to be the best one. It might not be your cup of tea, but if you haven’t tried it yet – give it a try. It really makes your skin smooth.

3. Invest in a Good Razor

It’s not like razors are super expensive, but really, don’t buy the cheapest ones. Those that cost a few bucks more are those that give you smooth legs after shaving.

I would always choose a razor with cartridges. To be completely honest with you, I don’t have a scientific proof that those razors are really that better, than the disposable ones. However, I do have years of experience that say that those razors are sharper, they last longer and they shave better.

4. Don’t Rush

Yes of course, you sometimes really need to shave your legs in a hurry, but try not to make this a general practice. Instead, take your time and shave your legs slowly.

I always start with a hot shower. Hot water actually makes your hairs softer, so they are easier to shave. Apply moisturizing shaving cream, and shave your legs carefully, paying special attention to your ankles and knees.

These regions are the easiest to nick, and no one wants red scars after every shaving. Don’t press the razor against your skin – the only result you can get is nicking.

5. Moisturizing in the End

In order to get a perfect shave and have beautiful smooth legs, your shaving has to end with applying moisturizer. No excuses about this one – you are doing some damage to your skin when you’re shaving, and that damage needs to be repaired.

You can choose to buy special after shaving moisturizers, but I personally haven’t noticed any big difference between them, and the lotion I usually use. Of course, if they work better for you, you can safely use them. I’ve been using Garnier lotions for years now, and I’m quite satisfied with them – especially the one with Shea butter. It is great for dry itchy skin, and it gives me smooth skin too.

That’s it – it’s all you have to do in order to get smooth legs after shaving. However, if you happen to have an extra advice to share, feel free to do so. I’d like to hear what your solutions are.
