How to Get Hair Like Vanessa Hudgens

Follow these easy steps for a fabulous head of hair like Vanessa’s!

The young Hollywood princess has gorgeous locks, and here are a few tips which will get your mane looking red carpet ready!

Color

If your hair is naturally dark, you’re a few steps from looking like Vanessa, but if it’s light, it’s time for a trip to the salon. Ask your colorist to give you a shade of brown that’s almost black, and to add a couple of chocolate highlights to give it a fresh look. Use a nourishing hair mask at least once a week to keep the color looking good and your hair healthy and shiny.

Cut

Long hair is a must! If you already have long hair, ask your stylist for a layered cut which will work great with a natural wave. Vanessa’s hair is layered, longer in the back and shorter in the front, with a few layers on top to give it more volume. Tell your stylist to give you long bangs that you can sweep to the side or wear down. If you don’t like bangs, cut a few strands around your face so they fall down to your cheekbones to get a similar effect.

If your hair is shorter, you don’t have to go and get expensive extensions. Copy Vanessa’s look from 2011, when she had chin-length hair, almost a bob, with a few longer strands in front.

The secret to hot, touchable dark locks is keeping them healthy. Get monthly trims to keep the ends looking fresh, and experiment with number and length of layers to keep reinventing the hairstyle.

Wearing It Down

Vanessa Hudgens loves to wear her locks down, so after shampooing and conditioning, rub a texturizing cream into your hair. If you are already wavy, dry naturally and crunch it near your scalp to give it extra volume. Curly girls will need a few rounds with a large, round brush to even out the wave. If your hair is straight, divide your hair into 10-12 sections and wrap around medium-sized rollers. You can also use a large curling iron. Blow dry and tousle with your fingers, and finish with shine serum.

The brunette actress loves cute, hippy-looking hair bands that go great with long hair, so dress up your look with a floral or metallic hair band. You can also take the strands around your face, twist them up and backwards and pin them back above your ears. Easy hippy chic in just a few minutes!

Wearing It Up

Vanessa’s favorite up-do is the romantic side bun. After following the steps for wearing your hair down, make a loose, low ponytail or braid on one side of your neck. Take bobby pins, twist and pin strands up around it so they cover the base of your ponytail and make a soft, slightly messy bun. Finish with a few hits of hairspray to make sure it holds.

Don’t worry about making it perfect – the coolest thing about this hairdo is the fact that it looks and IS effortless. Twist ‘em, pin ‘em and you’re good to go!
