We’ve all heard the phrase “less is more” and it has never proved truer than in recent weeks because less makeup has equalled more money for the cancer cause! Women have simply been posting a photo without any makeup on, donating to Cancer Research and nominating friends of their choosing to do the same!
It’s truly amazing that something as simple as a makeup free face has raised millions for such a worthy cause but the “no makeup selfie” in itself is nothing new! Celebrities have been posting makeup-free photos of themselves for years now – a lovely reminder to us normal folk that they’re not flawless after all!
So, as bare faces have done so much for charity recently, and since it’s always nice to celebrate natural beauty (not to mention we’re just plain nosy), let’s take a look at the faces of the celebrities who have taken to the internet to show us themselves au naturel.
#1 Gwyneth Paltrow
Hollywood’s Gwyneth Paltrow got in on the no makeup selfie craze a few weeks ago. Water is “full of healing power” according to Gwyneth who shared her natural face to celebrate World Water Day. We all need to drink a lot more water if it can make you look this good!
#2 Cressida Bonas
Prince Harry’s girlfriend and possible future royal Cressida Bonas is the latest celebrity to take a no makeup selfie to help raise money for cancer.
#3 Lady Gaga
Known for her outlandish makeup and outrageous costumes, it was definitely refreshing to see Lady Gaga embrace her “Born this Way” lyrics when she posted this photo on her website last summer (even if she does look scarily emo!).
#4 Cheryl Cole
Pop princess and X Factor judge Cheryl Cole also joined in the fight against cancer and posted this makeup free photo of herself last week with the caption, “I woke up like dis.” I think we all wish we could wake up looking this pretty!
#5 Rihanna
It’s just Rihanna’s style to shock her 34.7 million Twitter followers with risqué photographs and her no makeup selfie was no different…posted with the caption “just got ‘laid’.”
#6 Demi Lovato
Demi Lovato encouraged her millions of Twitter followers to go makeup free by posting her own bare-faced snap last April complete with the motivational phrase: “Ladies be brave today…take off your makeup…WE are beautiful.” It seems Demi is certainly inspirational since thousands of her followers or ‘Lovatics’ then sent the star photos of their own makeup-free faces!
#7 Beyonce
Even Queen B has posted photos of her beautiful bare face for us mere mortals to see! Through a series of shots uploaded to Instagram, Beyonce is seen lying in bed, laughing, without a trace of makeup on her face. Unsurprisingly, the photos received hundreds of thousands of comments and likes from her followers!

90210’s AnnaLynne McCord tweeted this photo of her makeup-free face back in May 2012. With it, she wrote: “I woke up this morning and decided I’m over Hollywood’s perfection requirement. To all my girls (and boys) who have ever been embarrassed by their skin! I salute you!” Well, we salute you too, Miss McCord!

Miley Cyrus snapped her no makeup selfie clean out of the shower a few months ago. Fresh faced and beautifully natural, it is of course ruined by that signature tongue of hers!
