5 Juicy Drinks for the Post Festive Season

Feeling like you’d over indulged during the end of year’s festivities? Thinking of treating your body with healthier inputs? Here are some yummy yet nutritious juices to get over your guilt of over-indulgence!

I’d never been much of a health freak hence I don’t really subscribe to a full-blown juice diet just for the sake of it. However, there are a few juices that I indulge in which are delicious AND great for health hence I would like to share them with you.

Most of these juices are like smoothies and can be used as a meal substitute. If you would like more fiber in it, I would suggest that you add a spoonful of wheat germ to give it an extra nutrient boost.

Yes, apart from making guacamoles out of it, you can enjoy these green fruit by making juices. Containing more potassium than a banana, and high on protein, you might want to have an avocado juice as your lunch!

Ingredients:

  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 1 cup of milk
  • a small pinch of salt
  • chocolate syrup

Steps:

  1. Add the avocado, milk and salt into a blender and blend till smooth.
  2. In a glass, pour 1 inch of the blended product, then layer it with chocolate syrup, and repeat this process until your glass is full.
  3. If you want to serve this to guests, the layered look makes a nice decoration.

Tip: If your blender is able to blend ice, you might want to add a few ice cubes into it to make the juice less thick.

Always a big fan of pina colada, I found this particular recipe just to my liking. Pineapples are great antioxidants, and they contain bromelain which helps you digest your food better in addition to being an anti-inflammatory agent. By blending it with coconut milk, you will avoid getting the usual cuddling of dairy products when combined with acidic fruit juices. Apart from that, the coconut milk gives it that distinctive taste that might just trick you into thinking you’re drinking pina colada instead!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of chopped fresh pineapples
  • ¾ cup of low fat milk
  • ⅓ cup of coconut milk
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • ½ teaspoon of sugar

Steps:

  1. Blend all the ingredients together.
  2. If you want to make it a more summery drink, you might  want to add some ice cubes to make a frappé out of it!

Tip: Add a pinch of cinnamon powder on top of your drink before serving to give it that extra flavour.

Ingredients:

  • 1 medium carrot, chopped
  • 1 cup of low-fat milk
  • a small pinch of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of sugar

Steps:

  1. Blend all the ingredients together.
  2. If you want to make it a more summery drink, you might  want to add some ice cubes to make a frappé out of it!
