10 Movie Quotes To Make You Think About LifeTo Make You Think About Life

When it comes to putting life into perspective, there’s nothing better than a good movie. Here’s 6 movie quotes to make you think about life.

Sometimes we all need a little advice, or even just a few words to help bring life into perspective. For me, those words don’t always come from friends or family, they don’t always come from somewhere you’d expect at all actually.

Time after time I find myself sitting down to watch a movie and by the time the credits roll I’m awed by the new outlook it’s given me on life, not because of what I’ve seen but because of what I’ve heard.

Personally, I don’t think there’s a film out there that doesn’t have at least one meaningful quote in it but there are some quotes that stick with us long after the screen goes black.

That said, here are six memorable quotes from famous movies to make you reconsider your perspective on life.

#1 The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers

First off, if you haven’t seen The Lord of the Rings trilogy I suggest you change that immediately. It’s quite possibly the most epic trilogy in the history of cinema and is packed with groundbreaking special effects, a legendary storyline and, of course, some of the best quotes to ever hit the silver screen.

Frodo: What are we holding onto, Sam?

Sam: That there’s some good in this world, Mr. Frodo… and it’s worth fighting for.

#2 Million Dollar Baby

Everybody loves and underdog, lets not deny it. That fact paired with some phenomenal acting and an incredible script is what brings together the truly inspirational feat of cinema that is Million Dollar Baby.

Eddie Scrap-Iron Dupris: There is magic in fighting battles beyond endurance.

#3 Dead Poets Society

“Carpe diem. Seize the day, boys. Make your lives extraordinary.” – Dead Poets Society

This Latin phrase translates to “seize the day,” and it’s a call to action to live life boldly and seize every opportunity that comes our way. The quote from Dead Poets Society reminds us to make our lives extraordinary by pursuing our passions and living with purpose.

#4 Transformers

Fifty years from now when you are looking back at your life do not you want to be able to say you had the guts to get in the car

While the Transformers movies may not have the most relatable story lines, they do teach us some valuable lessons in life. My personal favourite comes from the following quote – I’ll admit, out of context it sounds a bit odd but the general lesson here is to be someone you’ll be proud of when you’re old and to live without regrets.

Sam Witwicky: Fifty years from now, when you’re looking back at your life, don’t you want to be able to say you had the guts to get in the car?

#5 Gladiator

Gladiator is another epic film that really did raise the bar of cinema. Fourteen years on and it’s still hailed as one of the greatest films of all time, and rightly so. No doubt anyone watching will take a lot away from the film, but nothing more so than the fact that our every action has an impact on those around us, for better or for worse. Everything is connected.

Maximus Decimus Meridius: What we do in life, echoes in eternity.

#6 Casablanca

Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world she walks into mine

Casablanca is one of those films that everyone has heard of but far too few of us have actually seen. Here’s looking at you, kid may well be the most famed quote from the film but it’s not my personal favourite. How many times have you sat down and wondered what are the chances? – loads right? Well, this quote from the iconic films sees our protagonist wondering too, though perhaps slightly more eloquently.

Rick: Of all the gin joints, in all the towns, in all the world, she walks into mine.

#7 The Shawshank Redemption

“Get busy living, or get busy dying.”

This quote speaks to the idea that life is short, and we must make the most of the time we have. It’s a call to action to pursue our dreams and live life to the fullest, rather than letting fear or complacency hold us back.

#8 Spider-Man

Ah, Spider-Man, one of our many beloved superheroes. No doubt you’ve already guessed what quote I’m going to mention here but it’s worth mentioning all the same. It could mean a lot of things to a lot of different people but to me personally it means you should always remember how you treat people and the higher you rise the more important that becomes.

Ben Parker: With great power comes great responsibility.

#9 The Perks of Being a Wallflower

“We accept the love we think we deserve.”

This quote highlights the importance of self-worth and self-esteem. It suggests that we often settle for less in our relationships and our lives because we don’t believe we deserve better. It’s a reminder to love ourselves and demand the love and respect we deserve from others.

#10 Hitch

“Life is not the amount of breaths you take, it’s the moments that take your breath away.”

This quote is a reminder that life is about more than just existing; it’s about experiencing moments of beauty and wonder that take our breath away. It’s a call to seek out adventure, take risks, and live life to the fullest.

So there you have it, ladies, ten memorable movie quotes that might just make you think about your perspective on life. The movies may be fictional but the lessons they teach us are anything but, remember that the next time you’re watching.
