10 Quotes That Will Push You To Live Your Best Life

The following words of wisdom were compiled to guide you in life, through the good times and the bad, and inspire you to continue on your path, whatever that may be.

Some of these words of wisdom have been passed down the generations, whereas others are more recent.

Words and mantras can be very powerful, so why not choose the ones that most resonate with you, perhaps write them down and place them where you can see them daily, or put a note in your purse. Better still; why not add some of your own.

When there is no enemy within, the enemies outside cannot hurt you. – African Proverb

when there is no enemy within the enemies outside cannot hurt you

This is a great quote to begin with and a very wise piece of advice to remember.

When we love ourselves, know our own worth and stop all the negative chatter in our minds; we can truly become invincible. Remember, you are powerful beyond measure and the only person who can really defeat you, is you.

There comes a time when you have to stop crossing oceans for people who wouldn’t jump puddles for you. – Anon

Unfortunately in life, not everyone who we do things for or act kindly toward are going to return the favor.

Sure, we don’t do things for people so that they do things for us, this is not the point of giving; we do good things for others as it is the right way to live, and it is good to feel good.

Never the less there are some people that will forever take. No relationship works unless there is some give and take on both sides, so don’t feel bad for removing the takers from your life, chances are they won’t even notice you have gone.

And if they do, they may begin to appreciate all the stuff you did, and start to reciprocate accordingly.

Less sugar, more fruit. Less meat, more vegetables. Less soda, more water. Less driving, more walking. Less worry, more sleep.  Less words, more action. – Anon

less sugar more fruit less meat more vegetables

There is not much I can really add to this great piece of advice, it all makes perfect sense, but we can all from time to time ignore these simple things that can make us more healthy and happy.

Search for yourself, by yourself. Do not allow others to make your path for you. It is your road and yours alone. Others may walk it with you, but no one can walk it for you. – A Native American Code to Live By – Wado Joe Gonzales.

Everyone has their own unique path to follow and while people may have similar paths to our own, there are none that are ever exactly the same.

Take comfort in the fact that you have your own path, and no one else will do it quite like you. Do your own thing the way you feel is right for you, listen to your heart and you won’t go far wrong.

Life truly is a wonderful journey.

If you’re trying to achieve, there will be roadblocks. I’ve had them; everybody has had them. But obstacles don’t have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it. – Michael Jordan

if you are trying to achieve there will be roadblocks

We all face challenges in life, so if you hit a roadblock on your path, don’t give up at the first hurdle. Sometimes these obstacles are put in our way to teach us something new or show us another angle on a problem.

We are constantly learning and adapting, so face any challenges head on, you will soon see that every experience has its own special ‘gift’ to teach us.

Wisdom is the reward you get for a lifetime of listening when you’d have preferred to talk. – Doug Larson

You know the drill, you have just been on a great vacation or have had an amazing experience and you are just bursting to tell others your story.

There is nothing wrong with this, but sometimes it pays to hold back a little and listen to what other people have to say. Because there is always something to be learned by listening to others. We don’t always need to shout our stories and experiences from the roof tops; after all, it is our actions, not our words that speak for us.

Being a good listener is one of life’s precious gifts, and when used well is a reward to the listener as well as the speaker. You will note that some of the wisest people you meet in life are usually those who know how to listen.

It is a characteristic of wisdom not to do desperate things. – Henry David Thoreau

People who are wise do not do desperate things. Everything they do is carefully measured, that’s not to say they are not spontaneous, but just that they make the right decision at the right time.

When we are desperate and are clawing for a solution, it is good to sometimes take a step back from a situation and see the bigger picture. And then take action. When we do things in desperation they rarely turn out well.

If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else’s, we’d grab ours back. – Regina Brett

This is a funny but true quote. Be thankful for the challenges you do have, because I can assure you someone somewhere is a lot worse off than you.

Oftentimes people are going through all sorts of difficulties and have problems we are not even aware of, even though they may be close to us. So just accept the things you already have, and be grateful for everything in your life, good or bad. It is all there for a reason, and nothing lasts forever.

5 simple rules for happiness: 1) Free you heart from hatred 2) Free your mind from worries 3) Live simply 4) Give more 5) Expect less. – Anon

5 simple rules for happiness

This quote definitely deserves to be copied and stuck on your mirror or your fridge. While the rules are simple, the actual results of living in this way can transform your life.

Finally, perhaps one of my favorite quotes, up there with Susan Jeffers’ ’feel the fear and do it anyway’. Nothing sums it all up better than the quote below:

Seek out the happiness in all of life’s crappiness. – Karen Salmansohn

As well as being an avid reader, Eleanor is also a big time animal lover; especially of dogs. If you have a tail, four legs and you bark…. you’re in! In her spare time she enjoys swimming, and vegetable gardening… but not at the same time (it can get a bit messy).
