10 Easy Ways to Rev Up Your Energy Levels

Does your life drain you? When your alarm clock goes off in the morning, do you dread getting out of bed? And, at the end of the day, is it all you can do to summon enough energy to get yourself back into bed, ready to do it all again tomorrow?

Living without energy is not really living. It’s merely surviving, or just going through the motions. But, can you imagine a life where you have so much drive and passion that you can go from sun up to sun down and still have more than enough energy left?

It may seem impossible from where you are right now, but it’s not. And, it’s really easy to get.

Here are 10 super simple ways to rev up your energy levels so that you truly live each day:

#1: Eat

What you eat plays a huge role in whether you want to spend your time loafing on the couch or if you’d prefer to be engaged in an activity that is physically demanding. To get the most out of your diet, you’re going to want to concentrate on foods that fill you up without weighing you down.

The best way to do this is to get enough protein in your diet so that your muscles and cells are ready to move. Also, you’ll want to eat a lot of fruits and veggies so you get all of the vitamins and minerals you need to live an active lifestyle.

#2: Listen

Babies fall asleep to lullabies and bed-time stories because they’re soothing. This is just one example of how what you hear has a tremendous impact on your energy levels.

Certainly, you don’t need lullabies when you want energy, so the key is to find the sounds that rev your internal engine as opposed to putting it to sleep. For some, it may be hip-hop music or heavy metal. For others it could be positive mantras or energizing meditations. Find what sounds works for you and make it a priority to listen to them often.

#3: Drink

Most people go to caffeinated beverages when they’re feeling lethargic, but all too often the lift is only temporary. The energy you first sought in a can, bottle or cup leaves you – often feeling worse than before. What should you drink then?

The most beneficial beverage when it comes to energy is water. It keeps your body functioning at optimal levels and it doesn’t make your get-up-and-go, well, get up and go.

#4: Think

What goes on in your mind has quite an effect on what goes on in your body. That’s both bad and good. It’s bad because your thoughts and beliefs can drag you down and make you feel lifeless; however, it’s also good because it’s within your control to change them and make yourself feel more alive.

Concentrate on positive, uplifting thoughts. The more you focus on what you can do and what you will accomplish, the more energetic you’ll feel.

#5: Rebel

If you’re stuck in a rut and that is the primary reason your energy is waning, then it’s time to dig yourself out. You need to rebel against your same ‘ole, same ‘ole life and find something new and exciting that gets your heart pumping.

You can start small if you have trouble with change. Drive home from work a different way or shop the grocery store in reverse. Sometimes just a little bit of a break from routine behaviors is enough to see the world differently. But if you’re ready to go bold, then use the world as your playground. See what you can do to have a little bit of fun.

#6: Move

When you don’t have a high energy level, it’s very enticing to spend your day just sitting around and watching life go by. You convince yourself that you really don’t have the oomph to do anything else.

While feeling blah may make it more difficult to start to get active and move around more, lack of energy should actually be the drive to do just that. The thing is, the more you are physically engaged in life, the more energy you get. It’s like a boomerang – what you send out, you get back.

#7: Plan

Maybe you’re just bored with life and that’s why you feel so blah. If that is the case, then it is time to plan something new, fun and exciting. You need an event to look forward to so that you don’t think that life is so monotone and flat.

You may say you can’t afford to plan a great vacation that energizes your soul, but it doesn’t require a lot of money to plan an event that creates energy.

You could host a potluck at your house with friends. Or, you could plan a day at the park with your family. It isn’t about the money you spend; it’s about the memories you look forward to creating.

#8: Believe

Sometimes you may have a hard time putting one foot in front of the other because you wonder what the point is. You feel hopeless and lost, like you’re not sure where you’re going or how to get there.

It is times like these that you need to believe that you are where you are in life for a reason. It may not make sense to you at this very moment in time but as long as you have faith and believe that great things are ahead for you, you can go about your day with much more enthusiasm because you know that wonderful things are just around the corner.

#9: Smile

There’s something magnetic and energetic about a smile. It lifts spirits and makes people happy. It brightens even the worst of days and gives a sense of hope and encouragement.

When you smile at the world, the world will smile back. Maybe not all the time, but most of it. So, make it a point to pull the corners of your mouth up as often as possible and you’ll notice a difference all the way down to the pep it puts in your step.

#10: Give

It’s amazing how much giving of yourself to others creates that oomph that can drive you. The more you give, the more you want to give so that you get those positive feelings. It’s like an addiction, but in a good way.

Find a local charity or organization that you feel passionate about and donate some time there. Money is good too, but if you really want to feel massive amounts of energy in your body, go for time instead. You’ll be touched in a way that keeps you going for a long time to come.

Do these 10 things and you’ll feel like you’ve been visited by the Energy Fairy. You’ll have all of the drive you need to do the things you want to do in life…and more. Isn’t it time to start living?
