An easy way to lower blood sugar is to exercise for 20 to 30 minutes every day. When you exercise, your body turns stored sugar into energy and this helps keep your blood levels low.
Brisk walking, running, or biking, are just a few examples of the physical activities you could do without going to the gym.
2. Eat Smaller Meals Every 2 to 3 Hours
Eating smaller amounts of food more frequently will give you more energy and help you avoid blood sugar spikes. It is a good way to keep your sugar levels stable.
3. Choose the Right Foods
High-glycemic foods, such as potatoes, rice, and white bread, are quickly digested by the body and rapidly absorbed into the bloodstream, They raise your blood sugar levels quickly.
Low-glycemic foods, such as high fiber fruits, oatmeal, cauliflower, peanuts, spinach, tomatoes, beans, peas, granola, etc, are digested more slowly and they do not cause blood-glucose levels to spike.
4. Avoid Refined Sugar and Replace It with Natural Sweeteners
Cut out refined sugar and all foods that contain it and use stevia or Agave nectar instead. Refined sugar can have dramatic effects on your blood sugar.
5. Cut out Bad Carbs
Refined or bad carbohydrates, such as rice, white bread, cakes, soda, jams, cookies or pasta are bad and they can considerably affect your blood sugar since your body turns them into glucose very rapidly.
Eating good or complex carbohydrates, such as fruits and vegetables, will help keep your blood sugar level stable.
6. Eat More Fiber
Fiber is found in fruits and vegetables and it prevents blood sugar from rising too rapidly after a meal. Some beneficial sources of fiber are chia seeds, psyllium, flaxseed, beans, oatmeal, Brussels sprouts, carrots, pears, oranges, grapefruit, and peanuts.
7. Take Some Natural Supplements
Taking natural dietary supplements is also a very good way to lower your blood sugar and keep it at healthy levels.
Salacia oblonga, Gymnema Sylvestre, fenugreek powder, ginseng, pumpkin extract, bilberry, bitter melon, cinnamon, and minerals such as chromium, zinc, magnesium, and vanadium, are some of the best dietary supplements to lower high sugar levels.
8. Drink Green and Black Tea
Regular consumption of unsweetened green or black tea can also help lower and stabilize both cholesterol and blood sugar levels.
