10 Good Deeds in 10 Days: Ways to Do Good to Others

Try doing 10 good deeds in 10 days to brighten someone else’s day while creating a more fulfilling life for yourself.

There is nothing more satisfying than knowing that you had a positive impact on someone’s life as a result of your kind efforts.

Just taking the time out of your day to help someone or engaging in activities that will improve your own well-being can help you attract a little good karma every now and again.

Day 1: Buy a meal for a stranger.

No matter your situation, there are always opportunities in life to help someone.

If you are down to your last couple of dollars for the week, always keep in mind that there’s someone who has less than you and your gifts are accepted with great appreciation.

The next time you’re out ordering food, ask the lady waiting in line if it’s okay to get her a slice of pizza—your treat. If she says yes, hand it to her with a smile and ask for nothing in return.

Day 2: Don’t just say thank you; leave a nice tip!

How ironic is it that someone can just walk up to you at work and leave a tip for showing great hospitality or customer care?

It’s a good feeling when a complete stranger walks up to you and offers you money for welcoming conversation or simply smiling. So, to kick off your week on a good note, leave someone a tip for their services and I guarantee you’ll get it back when you need it most.

Day 3: Give your friend a night off from mommy duty.

Ask a friend or family member if they would like to have a night off from their kids. If your friend has a long day of work ahead or is busy with other chores, offer to take the extra stress off their hands for a few hours. Every parent can appreciate a break to be by themselves every once in a while.

Day 4: Your old sweaters could use a new home.

Find a local charity event or organization where you can donate some of your old clothes to the needy.

There are Goodwill stores and thrift shops across the country that will be glad to take all of your donations. Think of the people who need these items more than you do. Some families even share clothing in a household, so it’s nice to shop at stores where clothing is extremely affordable and abundant.

Day 5: Chip in at work.

If business is picking up at work and you notice that your boss could use an extra hand, offer your time and assistance with special projects.

Managers love when their employees go the extra mile at work because it shows dedication to their job. So, the next time you see your boss in the middle of a complex situation, don’t be afraid to ask if you can chip in. You could land that promotion you’ve been wanting.

Day 6: Bake a cake for grandma.

Yes, I know there are no pies like granny’s apple pie, but what if granny likes chocolate cake, too? On this day, plan yourself a nice day trip to grandma’s house. I’m sure she’ll enjoy your company and your amazing baking skills!

Day 7: Adopt the puppy you’ve always wanted.

There are local animal shelters with unwanted pets that need a home. If you are an animal-lover and you’ve always wanted a cute little cocker spaniel, day 7 may just be your lucky day! Find your nearest animal shelter and ask about adoption policies and information.

Day 8: Treat your best friend to a nice brunch.

Every woman has a best friend or at least someone they feel closest to in their circle of friends.

You do everything with your best friend and you share your life with her. If she’s always there for you in times of need, show her how much you actually appreciate her friendship over brunch at a cool spot in the city.

Day 9: Participate in a race or fundraising event for a good cause.

Breast Cancer Race for Cure, Spartan Race or any other charity event that will encourage community participation and support for a widespread cause is always a good way to do a good deed. Normally, all proceeds from the event are forwarded to a specific organization to help profit those affected by a common disease or disorder.

Day 10: When prayers go up, blessings come down!

Sundays don’t have to be the only day of the week where you take time to visit church. There are many churches with ministries that are targeted at everyone and all age groups. You just have to find a place where you feel comfortable and welcome. You are doing this for yourself and I don’t see anything wrong with that!

With a little thought, you can accomplish each of these deeds easily. The list only requires that you be willing to commit to one a day for 10 days. Ask a friend to join you; that way you can keep each other posted on your progress. Go ahead, get started!
