How many of us really find some meaning in the work we do? Are we truly satisfied with our work?

We all have great ambitions about our careers the moment we graduate or even right before that. We all have made hasty decisions, taken up the wrong path sometimes and even regretted some career decisions, however the one decision that matters the most is whether we choose to do meaningful work or set out to challenge ourselves with high ambitions.

So what is meant by meaningful work? It’s simply being truly satisfied with what work you are doing. It means that when you return home after a day’s work, you feel that you are contributing to something that is worth and something that will stimulate personal growth as well.

This transition from ambition to meaning is one secret that has led many women to succeed in which ever occupation they are. Because when you find your work meaningful, you enjoy doing it and you lose the right to hate your job!

2. Staying organized

Have you ever faced a hug pile of files and papers and pulled your hair not knowing what to do with it? Women are born multi-taskers or probably they are made to believe and brought up in such a way. Our day doesn’t end from office to home. Men usually take responsibility of household chores or help children with their homework, if the woman is lucky enough. However, in most cases the women has to live a double life.

It is really important to balance your work and your personal life, both simultaneously. You cannot give justice to your work if your personal life is in a mess. Its true the other way round as well.

We all have been brought up by being told that there is no alternative to hard work. But does that still hold true in towards fast paced world? Today we live in a world of android phones and MacBooks. We have top end technology that can help us get our work done in a matter of minutes.

Hard work was in older times when physical labor was what mostly consisted of work, perhaps that’s why they say hard work. However, in today’s modern times, there is a need to work smart.

Smart work doesn’t mean taking shortcuts; it simply means opting for the cleverest way to get your work done. So work smart, not hard!

6. Never failing dedication

Be it any profession you work in, hurdles will be aplenty. Being blessed with beginners luck is common but when all the sweet beginnings are over, it’s time to face the grim realities of what really lies in a profession.

People who are highly successful in their occupations live by one single principle and that is to never give up. In times of such hardships, it’s quite common and also very tempting to give up and look for something else. But, that is the real testing time.

There are some professions where you have to keep giving your best without expecting for instaneous results or success. However, once you get into the upward spiral, no one can stop you from being successful.

7. Dignity of work

Working at the top most position of a multinational company may seem like the best thing in this world when you begin your career, however, it’s not important what work you are doing, what really matters is how you do it.

You may be a hairdresser at a local beauty salon, but if you do your work dedicatedly and enjoy it, you are already successful.

Landing a job of a CEO might seem like a dream come true, but you deserve that job only when you will be equally happy and content with a job that doesn’t have a fancy title or brings you fame and money.

Money definitely does matter. We all work and earn our bread and butter out of the hard work and dedication we put in to it. Although a job pays very well, if it doesn’t give you work satisfaction then is the money really even worth it?

We all need to figure out what our priorities are. There will be times when you’ll have to compromise on your core values, or chuck a holiday plan with your kids or move to the other side of the country and leave your boyfriend/spouse behind.

These choices determine many things for your work and your personal life. Does a well-paying job score over being close to your sweetheart? The choice is entirely yours. Whatever you choose; make sure you follow your heart.

9. Focus on change rather than on results

There are two ways to get your work done; one is to have a result-oriented perspective and the other is to have a change oriented perspective. When you focus on results, you lose clarity of what is on your plate, you overlook that what needs to be done. We all need to understand that results cannot be achieved without actually working. When we focus on the results we are usually thinking about the future and neglecting the present.

If you do not work on change, how will you achieve the results? To begin with change without focusing on the end result is certainly a winner attribute of successful women.

10. A positive attitude

There are failures, there are successes, and there are trails and so many other phases in your career. Ups and downs are common, but there is only one thing that is sure to keep you going strong through it all, and that is your attitude.

A person with a positive attitude is welcome everywhere. Your attitude is the perspective through which you see every situation. Be it good, be it not so good; it will either gain you success or it will gain you experience, both ways you win.

Moreover, success is a state of mind. When you start believing that you are successful, at the moment, you really are successful!
