5 Easy Ways to Save Money for a Vacation or Holiday

You’ve decided you want to travel somewhere for a vacation or for holidays but you are facing the usual problem – the lack of money. Well, I have good news for you – you can learn how to save some money for a vacation or holiday. Just follow these 5 easy steps.

1. Focus on Your Goal and Don’t Give up

Whether you want to save money for a beautiful summer vacation or for a Christmas Eve abroad, you need to focus on your goal. Print some pictures of that beautiful beach and hang them around the house, or make one of them your desktop wallpaper or screen saver. The point is to be constantly reminded what you are saving for so that you won’t be tempted to spend the money on something else.

For every extra penny you put in that piggy bank, you’ll feel so much better because you will know that you are one step closer to actually being on that beach that’s on your screen saver.

2. First Minute and Last Minute Fares

If you are choosing between the two, I would definitely suggest the first minute fare, because you can actually lose your spot with the last minute fare. So, if you want to go on a vaccation in July, visit your travel agent at the beginning of the year and gather all the information about your holiday. As soon as you can pay the deposit money, do that. You can actually save a lot of money with first minute fares. This is a common practice with travel agencies to attract clients, and they usually give a big discount. If you don’t care that much about where you are going to go, but just want to go anywhere, you can always buy a last minute fare to wherever is available and again save some money.

3. Travel in a Group

Whether you choose to plan your holiday yourself or go through a travel agency, try to travel in a group. If you’re going via travel agency, you can ask for a large group discount and then convince some of your friends to join you on your vacation. You’ll have a great time and save some money. On the other hand, if you decide to travel with your own car, you’ll split the gas money and the costs of your vacation. Invite your friends – the more the merrier.

4. Buy Everything You Need before You Leave

Now that you’ve already gathered enough money and you’ve managed to pay for the vacation, you need to prepare. Don’t buy your swimming suit at your vacation spot. Prices in the places that are popular tourist destinations are usually higher than they should be. Once you are there, only buy the stuff you really have to. Bring everything else with you, like sun screen lotion, a hat, and sun glasses.

5. Rent a Cottage or a Bungalow

This is an especially good idea if you’re travelling with a lot of friends. Instead of staying in a hotel, rent a cottage or a bungalow. You will split the cost between more people and you will have a kitchen in there, so you can cook your own food and save a lot of money by not eating at restaurants. This can also be great fun as well as a money saver, since you won’t need to go out in the evening to be together with your friends. You can throw your own parties and have a great time.
