Miami is one of the hottest cities in the U.S. and if you’re lucky enough to planning a trip here, then you’re not going to be lacking in things to do. From the hunks at the beach to the Cuban neighborhoods, there are plenty of places to go for all your cultural and night life demands. Here are, in my opinion, the best fifteen things to do in Miami, whether you’re just visiting or you’ve lived there your entire life.

#1 Gator Park

What’s Florida without seeing the swamps? Do you want to take an airboat ride and hang out with the alligators? If so, then this is the place to be. Gators, venomous snakes, and airboats…why wouldn’t you take this awesome tour?!

#2 Redline Xperience

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to speed along in a Ferrari or Aston Martin? Well, wonder no more! For all you car aficionados, this is the place to go. Redline Xperience allows you to experience the speed of some of the classiest (and priciest) cars around. Its’ the ride of a lifetime.

#3 Vizcaya Museum and Gardens

Be swept away to an Italian Villa right in the heart of Miami. Vizcaya Museum and Gardens is the former estate of James Deering and is now open to the public. There are beautiful laggon gardens as well as spectacular architecture and decorating. This is truly a magnificent place to visit, and you’re going to fall in love with Vizcaya.

#4 Metromover

If you’re going to travel through downtown Miami, then travel in style. The Metromover is a free transit system that connects many buildings and hotels so you don’t have to get a taxi. Plus, it’s fun! If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to take a sky tram, then this is going to make you very, very happy.

#5 Freedom Tower

This historic building is not only architecturally stunning, but it is also one of the finest museums and cultural outlets in the city. Visiting Freedom Tower is definitely one of the things to do in Miami if you’re an art lover.

#6 Coral Castle

You might have seen this one on National Geographic at some point, and if you’re in Miami then you definitely have to visit here! Coral Castle has stunning structures made from oolitic limestone and coral that weighs thousands of tons. These structures were hand-made (he moved the stones without the use of modern machinery) by Edward Leedskalin in the early 1900’s and they are something that will boggle your mind! Beautiful and fascinating, you have to see the Coral Castle.

If you want to escape to a tropical garden paradise, then the Kampong gardens is the place to go. There are eleven acres of tropical fruit trees to gaze upon, including mango, avocado, and others. The Spanish influence of the structure, combined with the beautiful plants makes this one of the best places to escape Miami hustle and bustle.

#8 Venetian Pool

What do you do with an abandoned rock quarry? You turn it into a Venetian Pool. This fresh water pool in Coral Gables is one of the most beautiful sights (and places to sunbathe) in all of Miami. Don’t miss this stop.

#9 Miami Seaquarium

Whenever you’re looking for things to do in Miami, the Miami Seaquarium should be on the list. The Miami Seaquarium is almost forty acres large and is the oldest public aquarium in the United States. It’s had famous guests such as Flipper and is home to the Orca whale Lolita.

#10 South Beach

If you’re going to go to Miami, you can’t miss going to South Beach. South Beach has everything! This is the place to surf all day and stroll the nightclubs after dark. Of course, let’s not forget the shopping, amazing dining, and the bright and beautiful buildings. South Beach is the most happening place in Miami.

#11 Miami Children’s Museum

Are you vacationing with the family? If so, then you have to take a tour through the Miami Children’s museum. This museum is fun for kids and adults alike. There is hands on learning, interactive science, opportunities to create your own art, and bright colors everywhere! You won’t be bored.

Do you want to see a truly Spanish medieval monastery without having to fly to Spain? Then you have to visit the Cloisters of the Monastery of St. Bernard of de Clairvaux. This monastery was built in the 1100’s in the Province of Segovia, taken apart and shipped to New York in the 1800’s, and finally reconstructed in Miami. Don’t deny yourself the chance to press your palm against this amazing structure. Also, the architecture is breathtaking!

#14 Santa’s Enchanted Forest

If you’re in Miami in November and December, then take a trip to Santa’s Enchanted Forest. Aside from the giant Christmas tree, you will witness some of the most beautiful lights in Florida. Plus, there are amusement park rides here in case you have more energy than Christmas spirit while you’re here.

#15 Fruit and Spice Park

This is the place for any foodie! Not only will you see over five hundred varieties of exotic fruits, nuts, and spices, but they actually have a tasting counter. That’s right, you get to eat the fruit! This is one of those things to do in Miami that you don’t get to do in very many other places.
