Cheating comes in many forms. It’s usually hard to define because it’s subjective. You may consider one act to be cheating while someone else will not have the same view. On top of that, there’s micro-cheating. If you’ve never heard of the term, it refers to acts that are performed in a sneaky and subtle way.
These acts don’t look like cheating at first glance, but if you dig deeper, you know there’s something fishy and alarming going on. Simply put, micro-cheating is when your man is being unfaithful to you in a low-key way.
If you want to know more about it, you’re on the right page. These are the warning signs that your boyfriend is likely micro-cheating on you, and how you can deal with it like the strong and mature woman you are.
1. He flirts with other women even when you’re around
Some would say there’s nothing wrong with flirting with other girls even if you’re already in a committed relationship, while others would say that this is unacceptable if the two of you have agreed to be exclusive.
So, if you’ve already discussed this as a couple and you still catch him flirting openly with other women, he may be telling you that he’s not serious about being exclusive. Be sure to call him out on his behavior and see how he reacts. His response will tell you if he’s a guy you should strive to pursue or not.
2. His social media accounts scream what a huge flirt he is
His Facebook timeline consists of likes and comments from women you don’t even know about. While there’s no reason to panic right away, you should be alarmed if he’s just ‘friends’ with these women. It could lead to something more serious down the line and you should do something before it even gets there if you want to protect your relationship.
3. He exclaims how he’s in awe of other women
While there’s nothing wrong with your partner praising other women, it’s can be annoying if he does it again and again. It can even be hurtful if he notices the good in others but doesn’t see the good in you. For this reason, find out what his reasons behind this are and deal with them accordingly.
4. His buddies don’t know you exist
You’re his girlfriend, and while it’s okay to not meet his family right away, he should at least introduce you to his friends. However, if you only know who they are by name or online, it could be because he’s hiding the fact that he’s in a relationship with you. The question you need to answer now is why?
5. Your besties tell you that he tried to hit on them
A guy who’s serious about a relationship with you is going to respect you and your relationship with your girlfriends. For this reason, he should never hit on your friends.
So, if your besties tell you about him hitting on them even once, address it with your boyfriend immediately. It’s possible that it was a simple misunderstanding, but whether or not that affects your trust in him —and to what extent—is a decision only you can make.
6. He doesn’t return your texts
If he does, it’s only at his convenience (which really doesn’t help you or the situation). It’s okay if the reason behind his inability to text back is reasonable (e.g. he’s at work, he’s in an emergency, etc.), but if it’s as feeble as he doesn’t feel like texting back or he’s busy texting or ringing up someone else, then he needs to reevaluate his priorities. If you and your relationship aren’t one of them anymore, there’s no point being with him. You should move on.
7. He doesn’t let you use his phone
We all know snooping is not cool, but there are times when you’ll be tempted to do it, especially if your SO acts like they’re trying to hide something from you on their phone.
So, if you’re suspicious, listen to your gut. If it tells you he’s not being 100 percent honest with you, chances are that he’s being unfaithful. You need not confront him right away about this, but you should initiate the talk so you can see if the relationship is still worth saving.
Many argue whether or not micro-cheating can actually be considered a form of cheating. It varies depending on the person’s personal views and values, so it may be cheating for you but not for your partner.
The key is to sit down with them and make sure you’re on the same page. And, when you do, stand your ground and don’t settle for anything less. You’re a strong woman and you deserve a man who will be faithful to you no matter what.
