7 Reasons Why Yoga Is Amazing For You

Yoga seems to be what everyone is talking about these days, but it’s actually been around for thousands of years! Below is a list of some of the amazing benefits yoga offers for your body.

Yoga has so many amazing benefits for your body, both internal and external, that it’s hard to pick just a few to talk about. If we discussed all of them, we would be here until tomorrow!

However, if I had to choose my top 7 picks, they would be these.

1. Flexibility

Yoga is known for improving flexibility. It’s a gradual development though, so don’t expect to be able to do the splits in your first lesson.

However, over time, you will notice that your body is able to get deeper into a pose, or you hips and shoulders are opening up more.

Being flexible allows your body to be mobile, which becomes more important the older you get. Keeping your muscles and joints fresh by working on your flexibility only benefits you.

2. Overall toning

Ever wonder how Kaley Cuoco got her amazing toned body? Yoga! She has mentioned in several interviews that she owes her body transformation to yoga.

Yoga builds lean muscle. You will never look like the men and women who do a ton of arm curls or dead lifts, but you will achieve a very slim, toned figure that will flatter your body.

3. Classes for every level

I often hear people say that they have never tried yoga, or never want to try it, because they’ve never done it before and don’t want to look silly in class.

Well, that’s another amazing thing about yoga. There is a level for everyone.

Almost every studio has beginner to advanced classes, so you can start at your own pace and work up to the level you want to achieve for YOURSELF!

There is no judgment in yoga, which you will probably realize after a few classes. And, who knows? Maybe you will challenge yourself and try a level above where you start.

You’ll be amazed at how you can develop in yoga!

4. Stress relief

Who needs happy hour after a long, hard stressful day at the office? One of the most beneficial things about yoga is that it is an unbelievable stress reliever, especially if you become a regular yogi.

Yoga calms your body and mind. You will be amazed at how relaxed and good you feel at the end of class.

5. Posture

I think it’s safe to say that 90% of the population suffers from some sort of spinal curve. We are constantly on our laptops, smart phones and other electronics.

A lot of yoga poses focus on core work (even when you don’t realize it), which will help to improve your posture.

6. Better sleep

Are you a restless sleeper? Does it take you forever to fall asleep? Studies have proven that doing yoga several times a week will actually help with your sleep patterns.

Yoga helps to regulate hormone levels that affect your inner clock and sleep cycles. This, in turn, means you will sleep longer and more peacefully.

7. Body detox

Toxins build up in everyone’s body. There are many yoga poses that help to rid your body of those nasty guys! You know all the twisting, turning and even stretching poses you do in yoga?

Believe it or not, but something as simple as a side chair pose actually contributes to detoxing. Who knew, right?

The twisting poses help to detox your liver by squeezing out the toxins. Think of it like a wet rag. In order to get rid of all the excess water, you need to squeeze it out, so you twist the rag.

That is exactly what happens in your body during yoga! Twisting poses help to stimulate blood circulation, which will keep all of your organs healthy and working properly.

Are you convinced yet that yoga is just awesome? Next time you hear a friend talking about an upcoming yoga class, try it out for yourself!

You will not be disappointed no matter what level you start with—how could you after reading about only a few of the many, many benefits yoga has for the body! Namaste.
