12 Motivational Workout Quotes That Will Inspire You

Exercising can become a chore where all you want to do is sit and do nothing. With these motivational workout quotes, though, you will feel refreshed and inspired to workout.

Sometimes, all you need is some motivation and inspiration to get off the couch and get back into the swing of things when it comes to exercising.

Technically, a quote is a whole bunch of words, but some quotes in the right context are all that is needed to help inspire and motivate.

Here are some motivational speech compilations and workout quotes to keep going…

1. “Do it for the people who want to see you fail.”—Nike

As bad as it may sound, the reality is that revenge workouts are a great way to improve yourself and at the same time say, “Screw you. I’m a strong, independent and beautiful woman who doesn’t need you.” This shouldn’t be the only reason to exercise, but it certainly is a good reason due to the motivation it provides.

2. “No pain, no gain”—Jane Fonda

This is something to remember before every workout, and then after every workout when you feel your muscles ache even when doing the most remedial of every day tasks such as sitting. That’s right: even sitting can really hurt after some workouts, but that’s how you know what you’re doing is working.

The only way to lose weight, tone up and become more fit and trim is to exercise, which will cause pain. However, in the end, the pain blossoms into the beautiful flower that is considered to be results.

3. “Set some goals, and then demolish them.”—Unknown

When working out, you won’t start out doing the same exercises as The Rock. You will have to start out small, and as you improve and conquer the original goals, you will have to set bigger goals. As you conquer these, the cycle repeats as you constantly work towards bigger and more challenging goals.

4. “Don’t quit. You’re already in pain. You’re already hurt. Get a reward from it.”—Eric Thomas

Pain is a state of mind. Having a strong mentality and belief in yourself is important as this will help you to achieve so much more. Push through the pain and reap the rewards. Don’t let pain stop you; conquer it and keep going. It won’t get worse!

5. “Slow progress is better than no progress.”—Unknown

This is the reality to working out. Results don’t happen within a day or even a week. It takes time, but it is worth it. The sooner you start, the better and quicker the results. Something is better than nothing.

6. “Train insane or remain the same.”—Unknown

It’s as simple as that. To achieve results, you have to push yourself as hard as possible and then some more. If you don’t and you take the easy way, then there will be no results at all.

7. “Will it be easy? Nope. Will it be worth it? Absolutely”—Unknown

Nothing that is worth doing is ever easy. The easy parts of life are things that are mediocre, don’t require any work and are not life changing.

If you want change, then it won’t be easy; if you want to achieve anything, it won’t be easy—but if you do it, then the results will be worth all the hard work. This quote applies to life as a whole, but I will admit that this is a personal favorite in regard to working out.

8. “Sweat more, bitch less.”—Unknown

To quote Nike: Just Do It. Do your workout, get the job done and don’t whine about it. The time you spend whining is time you can spend sweating and reaping your hard-earned benefits from your workout.

9. “If it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you.”—Fred DeVito

A challenge not only builds character, but muscle. Doing an exercise that is easy, redundant or mundane means that there will be no results.

However, doing a workout that is intense, a little painful, spicy and difficult will provide results and changes that are desired. There is no point in doing an exercise that is easy; the hard ones are those that are the most beneficial.

10. “They said I fight like a girl. Good.”—Ronda Rousey

Typically, when being told that you hit or throw like a girl, it is intended to be an insult, but it isn’t and it shouldn’t be. The stigma associated with this quote is dreadful, and, as an athletic woman, I see it as a responsibility to prove it wrong.

This is great motivation to read before every workout, and Ronda Rousey’s response to this is absolutely perfect. It’s a good thing to run and tackle like a girl.

11. “The only bad workout is the one that didn’t happen.” – Unknown

This quote reminds us that any workout is better than no workout at all. Even if you don’t feel like working out, just getting up and moving your body can have a positive impact on your physical and mental health. So don’t beat yourself up if you don’t have the most intense workout of your life, just focus on getting some movement in.

12. “Don’t watch the clock; do what it does. Keep going.” – Sam Levenson

Focus on the task at hand and keep pushing forward, rather than constantly checking the time or getting caught up in distractions. Whether you’re working out or pursuing any other goal, it’s important to stay focused and keep pushing forward even when the going gets tough.

All of these workout quotes are motivational and a great way to get you pumped and in the mood to workout. The best part is that none of these quotes are cheap; they are actually true. If you have anymore workout quotes that motivate you, feel free to share!
