Going out on dates is always fun, especially since it gives you something to do, but sometimes you just need a day inside.
Why be cold outside when you can be warm with your man? We all need those chill date nights where you just order food and do nothing besides cuddle and watch movies.
The holidays are the perfect time to do this. Here are some of the best Christmas movies to watch with your man this holiday season.
1. “The Santa Clause”
This movie is such a classic. I grew up on it, and it really makes me in the holiday spirit. It’s a more upbeat movie, and it is a movie that anyone could enjoy.
It has everything you could want in a holiday movie. It’s funny, realistic, and it’s just whimsical. It’s a fun movie to watch and it doesn’t get boring. The best part of this movie is how many sequels there are. You can have an entire night filled with The Santa Clause(s).
2. “Polar Express”
Animated movies aren’t just for kids! It’ll give you both something to reminisce about. Re-watching movies can always bring back memories from your childhood, which can lead to great stories for you and your boyfriend to talk about.
3. “Love Actually”
This movie has so many storylines, it’s crazy. No matter how many times you’ve seen it, you can always find something new you didn’t notice before.
It has romance, heartbreak, hope, and love. It has it all, so anyone can relate to at least some part of the movie. “Love Actually” is a long movie, about 2 hours long, so it gives you plenty of time to, you know, “spend time” with each other.
4. “Elf”
Who doesn’t love “Elf”? It’s probably the most well-known Christmas movie of our generation. It’s absolutely hilarious. No matter how many times you’ve seen it, and we both know it’s been too many to count, it doesn’t get old.
You and your man will have so much fun watching this together. Just get some pizza (or chocolate syrup spaghetti) and be goofy with each other.
5. “Home Alone”
I feel bad for anyone who didn’t grow up watching this movie. It’s funny to watch it when you’re older instead of being the same age as Kevin because you see such a different perspective.
Maybe it’s the perspective of “How could they forget their own kid” or “How did a kid outsmart two grown men?” but still. We grow up. It happens.
We start questioning actions we thought were hilarious before. Oh well. “Home Alone” is a classic, funny movie that’ll make any date night great.
6. “The Last Holiday”
Black Christmas movies are so underrated. Queen Latifah is hilarious in this movie. It’s not necessarily about Christmas, but it’s set in the winter, so it counts. And it’s a romance movie, so who cares?
Queen Latifah plays a timid woman who finds out she’s going to die, so she does everything she ever dreamed of. It’s such an entertaining movie and it has just the right about of drama and romance for anyone to enjoy. It opens your eyes to see how short life really is.
7. “Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas”
Another classic from our generation. Older movies are great and all, but they’re so serious. There is absolutely nothing serious about “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” and it’s great.
When we were kids, we were all Cindy Loo. Now we’re pretty much all the Grinch. I have no shame in saying it. This movie will leave you and your man rolling. It’s such a funny movie and will put anyone in the holiday mood.
8. “The Holiday”
There are so many movies that have such similar titles that it’s confusing to figure out which one is which. This is the one with Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet where they swap houses in L.A. and England.
They both have such fun, and quite emotional, adventures while across the pond. This movie has such a great balance of romance and comedy, so it’ll keep both of your attention if you want it to that is.
9. “Fred Claus”
This movie is so underrated. It didn’t become quite as big a hit as it should’ve and I don’t understand why. It’s such a funny movie and can make anyone laugh.
It stars Vince Vaughn, so you know it’s full of comedy and plenty of sarcasm. It’s all about family relationships around the holiday, which we all know can be complicated as anything. Especially around the holidays.
10. “Just Friends”
Ryan Reynolds is hilarious in this movie. It starts out with him in high school in love with his best friend, who is clearly out of his league.
Go forward 10 years and everything has changed. It’s the perfect movie for when you want a laugh and something very entertaining. It’ll make you happy to be with your man and that you didn’t have to go through it.
11. “National Lampoon’s Christmas”
Now this one is more of a classic. I don’t know of anyone who has gotten over seeing this movie. No matter how many times you see it, it’s still going to be funny.
You’ll expect what’s coming, but it won’t stop it from being hilarious. It’s the perfect movie to enjoy with your boyfriend.
12. “A Christmas Story”
Yet another classic movie. This will really make you go back to your childhood, remembering the first time you saw this movie.
You’ll love cuddling with your man watching this, remembering back to your own childhood where you used to do the same things these kids would do.
13. “The Perfect Holiday”
Yet another completely underrated movie, in my opinion. This is one of my favorite movies to watch around the holidays.
It’s about a single mother who just wants a man to notice her. Her daughter turns out to give her that wish by telling Santa that she wanted a man to be nice to her mom. Santa turns out to be a man who becomes interested in this woman.
The movie is all about the development of the relationship between them and her family…. And her ex-husband. Definitely is a must-watch movie.
14. “Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmas”
It seems very childish, I’m aware. But I love watching this movie with people. I used to love it as a kid, but I can actually appreciate it and understand it more than I did when I was younger.
It’s just a cute, fun little movie for when you don’t want to put too much attention into something. You don’t have to focus too much on the storyline, especially since there barely is one. It’s perfect for cute date nights.
15. “A Charlie Brown Christmas”
I know, it’s another children’s movie, but come on. Can you go through the holidays without watching this movie again? If you don’t watch it every year anyway, then I don’t know what you’re doing with your life. Great for dates.
Sometimes it can be hard to find something fun to do with your boyfriend during the winter, but at least there are countless movies you can watch and have an opportunity to really spend time together. Enjoy watching these movies with your guy during the holiday season.
