Before you even start baking, you need to understand that baking a cake for your dog is not the same as baking a cake for people. Dogs shouldn’t be given sugar, so avoid it in your cakes. Also, they like their cakes completely different.
1. Bacon and Chicken Dog Birthday Cake
Yes, you’ve read it right – bacon and chicken. I know it doesn’t really sound like a cake to you, but those are some of your dog’s favorite things, right? Your dog will love the cake, trust me.
To make this cake, you’ll need: 3 cups of flour, 1 tablespoon of baking powder, ½ cup of softened margarine, 6 eggs, ½ cup of corn oil, 2 jars of strained chicken baby food, 2 cups of shredded carrots, yogurt and 3 strips of crispy bacon cut into bits.
Mix the flour with the baking powder in one bowl. Beat the softened margarine, add eggs and corn oil and mix it all well together. Add the chicken baby food, the carrots and the flour baking powder mixute. Mix everything well together and bake until done.
Cut into two equal sponges. Smear yoghurt on the first sponge, cover with the second and coat the whole cake with yoghurt. Decorate with crispy bacon and if you like add some hot dogs.
2. Beef Jerky Dog Birthday Cak
Another combination that sounds nothing like a cake to you, but it will make your dog the happiest dog in the whole world. Treat your dog with this specail beef jerky cake.
You need: 1.5 cups of flour, 1 tablespoon of baking powder, ½ cup of soft butter, ½ cup of corn oil, 2 jars of strained beef baby food, 4 eggs and 3 strips of beef jerky.
Beat the butter until softened and add corn oil, beef baby food and eggs. Mix all well together. Combine the dry ingredients in a separate bowl and add them into the mixture. Crumble the beef jerky and add into the mixture. Pour the mixture into a loaf pan and bake in the owen for approximately 1 hour on 200C, or until done. Cool the cake completely.
Coat the whole cake with frosting made out of plain yoghurt, or cottage cheese for example. Decorate with a little more crumbeled beef jerky and surprise your dog with a delicious birthday cake.
3. Peanut Butter and Carrot Dog Birthday Cake
Ok, fine, you want a sweet cake for your dog’s birthday, it is a cake after all. Still, you shouldn’t use sugar but there is something you can do. Check out the recipe for peanut butter and carrot cake for your dog’s birthday.
To make this cake, you’ll need: 1 cup of flour, 1 teaspoon of baking soda, ¼ cup of peanut butter, ¼ cup of corn oil, ⅓ cup of honey, 1 cup of shredded carrots and 1 egg.
Mix the flour and the baking soda together. Add all the other ingredients one by one and mix them thouroughly with a spatula. Pour the mixture into a pan and bake for around 30 minutes or until golden brown.
