4 Most Refreshing Summer Drinks

When the hot summer arrives all you can think about, is how to cool yourself down. Drinking something cold and refreshing always helps. Check out 4 most refreshing summer drinks.

I have to warn you to be careful with these drinks. Give it a couple of minutes after entering your home from a really hot day and drink slowly, especially if you’re prone to easily getting a sore throat.

1. Fruit Freezer

This is a drink that will make you feel cold even if it’s 100 degrees outside. It’s ideal for those who don’t want air conditioners in their homes and still want to cool down during the hot days.

Preparation requires a fruit of your choice, a lot of ice and a blender. I prefer to make this with lemons, oranges and grapefruit – one of each. Squeeze the juice from the fruit and pour it in a blender. Add at least two handfuls of ice and crush it all together.

If you like it sweeter add honey or sugar. Honey is of course better for keeping a healthier diet. Take a wide straw and slowly sip your super refreshing drink.

2. Coffee Freezer

Coffee Freezer

I don’t know about you, but I really can’t stand hot coffee on a hot day. My summer coffees are usually cold coffee frappes or even better – coffee freezer.

There are lots of variations to the coffee freezer theme, but my personal favorite is the mocha freezer. To make it you’ll need: 1 cup of prepared and cooled instant coffee, 2 cups of milk, 1 teaspoon of cocoa powder, ice and sugar.

Mix the coffee with milk and cocoa powder, and add sugar if you like. Put it all in a blender and add two handfuls of ice. Crush it all, put a straw in it and enjoy a cold coffee that will both cool you down and wake you up.

3. Spritzers

Spritzer is a very refreshing summer drink, mostly popular in Germany and Austria. You know how it is hard to handle alcohol during hot days? Well, if you want alcohol and don’t want to feel even hotter because of it – spritzer is your choice.

Spritzers are easily made. You only need white wine of your choice and club soda or carbonated water. Pour some wine in the glass and add club soda and that’s it – your spritzer is done.

It’s best to make summer spritzers with less wine and more water. For extra freshness, add lemon or lime wedges, and some squeezed lemon or lime juice, and ice into the glasses. Remember that you’re still drinking alcohol, even though it is mixed with water, so don’t have too many spritzers.

4. Mojito

Mojito is the most popular summer cocktail. It is loved among men and women alike and it is really a perfect thing to refresh you during the hot summer evenings.

Mojitos are made with white rum, club soda, lime juice and mint leaves. You’ll need to crush a couple of fresh mint leaves so that they release the juices. Then add 1/3 of a glass of white rum and 2/3 of club soda. Squeeze some lime juice, put in a couple of lime wedges and ice cubes and get the party starting.

Have in mind that drinking alcohol during hot summer days makes you feel even hotter. It’s best not to drink it, or to stick to mixed drinks and cocktails that contain less alcohol and more water or juices.
