Now, more than ever, being vegetarian and vegan seems to be the solution to weight problems, heath issues and mental health as well. You might be wondering how that happened. Well, celebrities have their fans that would do anything to look and act as their beloved idols, so that is how it all starts.
Let’s see what celebrities have to say about their vegetarian diet.
Paul McCartney
He posed for an ad for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) in 2008, and he described the moment he became vegetarian: “Many years ago, I was fishing, and as I was reeling in the poor fish, I realized, ‘I am killing it — all for the passing pleasure it brings me.’ And something inside me clicked. I realized as I watched it fight for breath that its life was as important to it as mine is to me.”
Natalie Portman
She is well known for her strict vegan diet, but when she was pregnant she stopped being vegetarian, and she included dairy and eggs in her diet. “If you’re not eating eggs, then you can’t have cookies or cakes from regular bakeries, which can become a problem when that’s all you want to eat.” After she gave birth, she returned to being vegan.
Carrie Underwood
The American Idol winner and Grammy award-winning country singer quit eating red meat in the age of 13. “I do it because I really love animals and it just makes me sad,” she explained to It’s My Life on PBSKids.org. “I don’t like to watch commercials where they have meat. It freaks me out.”
Rusell Brand
He started being vegetarian at age 14. He wrote this in his memoir: My Booky Wook. “I shall have heroin, but I shan’t have a hamburger. What a sexy little paradox.”
Kristen Wiig
She said for Women’s Health: “I eat a lot of tofu and soy.” She was also on the list of sexiest vegetarians, together with Rusell Brand.
Olivia Wilde
She is a big animal lover and she says that being vegetarian helps her a lot. “Often we forget the power of each of our purchases. We are the consumer, the demand, and the fuel for every industry we choose to support. Therefore, I try to be mindful about where my dollar votes go, and this is a huge reason why I have chosen to adopt a vegan diet,” she wrote on her Web site. “Beyond my desire to boycott the torture factories, I am way happier when I eat a plant-based diet, and I feel about a thousand times more energetic.”
Bill Clinton
Bill Clinton who is famous for his big appetite and love for fast food, switched to a vegan diet in 2010 after two major heart surgeries. Clinton’s new diet excludes all meat, dairy, and eggs, and almost all oil. Because of it, he’s lost 20 pounds. “All my blood tests are good, and my vital signs are good, and I feel good, and I also have, believe it or not, more energy,” Clinton told to CNN.
