And this is the perfect time to stimulate muscle repair, growth and strength and replenish your energy stores.

A post-workout meal should contain proteins and carbohydrates, as well as electrolytes to replace minerals lost through sweating.

1. Chicken

Plus, chicken is easy and fun to cook and it is low in calories! If you are trying to lose weight, opt for chicken breasts.

2. Eggs

Eggs are an excellent post workout food. The protein found in eggs is easily absorbed by your body and readily utilized by human muscle tissue. A hard boiled egg contains about 6 grams of protein and only 80 calories, and represents an excellent and quick protein snack.

3. Tuna and Salmon

Tuna and salmon are also rich in protein and packed with healthy omega-3 fatty acids.

4. Milk and Yogurt
