7 Telltale Signs That You Are Ready To Marry Him

It’s super rare to date a guy for a certain period of time (let’s say at least six months) and not start dreaming of walking down the aisle. It’s totally possible that from your very first date with your current boyfriend, you wondered if the two of you were going to get married. You could have been super sure about him from the beginning of your relationship and known that you absolutely wanted to be with him.

Of course, you want to get engaged to someone who you’re crazy in love with, but there are so many other reasons to marry someone.

If you’re thinking that your boyfriend is about to propose or you’re already engaged, how do you know that this is the right decision for you and the right way to move forward? There are some things that you should be thinking and feeling if you’re at this stage. Here are 7 signs that you are ready to marry him.

1) You feel like you’ve been together for longer than you actually have

Some people have a timeline for when they want to get engaged. They figure that if they are with someone for one year or two years, then that’s a logical time for their boyfriend to pop the question.

That doesn’t have to be the case. It’s completely plausible that you would know that you want to marry someone in under a year. Even if you and your significant other have only been together for six or eight months, if he proposes, there’s no reason why this isn’t a great decision for your future together.

How do you know that you’re ready to marry him? One way to tell is if you feel like you’ve been together for longer than you actually have. When two months feels like two years because you two are so in sync and so in love, wedding bells are absolutely in your future. This is a good sign that you two are meant to be. You’re so comfortable with each other and can’t imagine life without each other.

2) You can talk about anything

Conversation is a huge part of a good relationship. Sure, you might want to gossip and chat about certain subjects with your best friends instead of your boyfriend, and he might want to talk about sports or music or whatever interests him with his own friends. Your boyfriend might not care as much about a new rom-com that you just saw or that lipstick you just bought as your BFF would.

But you want to be able to talk about anything with your boyfriend. That’s another good reason that you should marry him and it’s another good way to be confident that this is the right choice.

3) You’re on the same page about your future

Do you both want kids? How many children do you want? Are you on the fence about being a mom and yet your partner is convinced that he wants to be a parent?

People feel differently on the topic of having children. Some know for sure and others just aren’t so sure. No one can tell you what you should do, but you do need to be honest about whether you truly want to have kids or not. If you do and your partner doesn’t, is that a dealbreaker and would you break up with them to find someone who wants kids? Or do you love him more than the idea of being a parent? No, it’s not exactly an easy choice to make, but it is really important.

If you and your boyfriend are on the same page about your future, then that’s a good sign that you should get married. This will make things a lot easier when you’re planning your lives together and talking about these important topics and making these huge decisions.

4) The two of you already act like you two are married

You have basically been living together since the second month that you were dating. Also, you hang out with each other’s families on a regular basis and know each other’s friends and everyone gets along really well. You know each other’s favorite foods and least favorite foods, you watch a movie that the other person really wants to see even though you have zero interest, and you’re always there to take care of each other no matter what’s going on.

When you and your boyfriend already act like you’re married, you might as well take the plunge and get hitched for real, right?

It’s a good sign that you two are meant to be husband and wife because you get along super well and have a really going thing going on. There’s no reason to worry about timing or if you’ve been together long enough or anything else that might be on your mind.

5) You have a peaceful relationship and rarely fight

This is a pretty big thing. Sure, some couples might believe that fighting is healthy and that it doesn’t seem logical not to argue on a regular basis, and yet that might not be the smartest way to think.

After all, do you want to marry someone who you argue with all the time about things that don’t matter and things that do matter…. or do you want to have a peaceful relationship full of love and compassion and understanding? It’s definitely the latter option, right?

When you’re in a great relationship that doesn’t involve a lot of arguments, that’s a sure sign that you’re ready to marry him. When he pops the question, your answer will be “yes of course” and you won’t have any doubts or reservations.

6) You daydream about marrying him before he proposes

Another way to tell that you’re ready to marry him? If you daydream about marrying him even before he proposes to you.

You can be certain that this is something that you want (and something that you should definitely do) if it’s on your mind 24/7. Do you get distracted during the day when you’re at work or the gym because you can’t stop wondering when your boyfriend is going to propose and imagining him doing it? Are you convinced that this would be the greatest moment of your life so far?

When this is all true, you can be sure that you’re ready to marry him. You know that you want to and you’re already halfway there… he just needs to make things official and put a ring on it (yay).

7) You’re cool with a non-traditional proposal

The final way to tell that you’re ready to marry him is if you’re cool with a non-traditional proposal. If you only want to him to propose if it’s some big, romantic, over-the-top thing that you can post all over social media and brag about, that’s not the best idea. And it’s definitely not a sign that you two are meant to get married and be together forever.

You know you’re in love and it’s for real when you care more about being with this guy and who he is as a person than a big proposal. It’s honestly a good way to figure out if you want to get married, period, or if you want to marry him. There’s a difference between those two things.

It can seem like of course you should get married if you’ve been dating someone for a certain amount of time, but that shouldn’t be the marker of when a proposal needs to go down. There are a few ways to figure out if you’re ready to marry him, and these 7 ways should help you know if this is the right path for you to go down.

And once you know that it’s the right choice, you can say “yes” and smile at that ring on your finger and live happily ever after.
