Every year when the sun comes out, there’s that sudden panic of how to make your home look summery. There’re so many ways to do so, from lighter colors to open spaces and cute patterns, so where do flamingos come into all of this?
I don’t mean that you have to drag real flamingos into your home simply to make it seem fun and ready for summer. Rather, using patterns and statement pieces that incorporate the flamingo shape or color could make your rooms brighter and unique to welcome in that hot sunshine.
1. Statement Fabrics
Usually, when you have a running theme in a particular room, or your whole house, it can be hard to break away from it and bring in an entirely new look every time the seasons change.
If you did that, you’d never be able to stop or take the chance to enjoy it! The best way to spruce up your theme is to bring in little pieces here and there that blend in well with what you already have.
In regard to flamingos, they are usually found as patterns on printed fabrics, such as cushions, throws and sheets.
In your living room, try bringing in a couple of flamingo-patterned cushions that can be scattered on your sofa, giving you a unique splash of color. For your bedroom, look for bedding with a flamingo print. This will make the bed the focal point of your room.
2. Funky Pictures
If you can’t get your hands on any printed fabric with flamingos, there are plenty of other avenues you can venture down to still have that wonderful splash of color and summer.
Dotted around your living space, you can hang pictures and prints of flamingos in various shapes and sizes. These can hang high and low between your other pictures.
Online and in poster and art stores, you can find many different hilarious or arty pictures of flamingos that really add a bold splash of color to a room and liven up your day-to-day four walls.
This is a great way of incorporating flamingos into your kitchen and bedroom space, as it doesn’t clutter the space, isn’t permanent and can still give you that colorful and seasonal update.
3. Cute Objects
Flamingos have become extremely popular and fashionable over the past couple of years whenever summer has come around the corner because they’re so colorful and represent sunshine and hot sunny days!
They’re also extremely unique animals that can make you smile with their funny stance and skinny shape, but also liven up your day with their bold colors and beauty.
They have the power to draw attention and allow you to look closely at them, so they really capture your eye when they want to. This is exactly why they’re great to use if you’re looking to make a statement in your home!
If you really want to draw attention to various areas of your living space, try bringing in some models of flamingos or smaller objects such as coasters, kitsch lighting or any other flamingo-related objects you can hunt down.
These pieces will be so unique that they’ll really make a statement as well as add a hint of bold summer color to what may be an otherwise dull segment of the room, such as a cabinet or side table.
4. Color!
As we all know, flamingos have such a vibrant and beautiful array of colors that it is hard to look away. There are so many shades of bold and pale pink, with the contrast of their black beaks, that it’s amazing that they weren’t painted or created with home décor in mind!
If you don’t want to use the actual image of flamingos in your home, but still find yourself inspired by this magnificent creatures, why not take their colors as inspiration for your home décor?
Use shades of lighter pinks to contrast with darker pinks to really make a room look bold and vivid. Contrast these with some black and dark furniture to give the room an edgy style. The shades of pink (with or without the black) will instantly light up any room and leave all of your guests speechless as they enter it!
Whether you choose to go with just the shades of pink that flamingos are known for to spruce up a room or two this summer, or you decide to re-do an entire room with bolder and more obvious flamingo-inspired touches, we guarantee you’ll love the bright, summer feel that accompanies flamingo.
