Waiting for love is probably one of the most challenging things to do in life. You sit there, waiting, and you don’t know when it will happen. You don’t have the slightest idea about when that person you’re waiting for will find you or if he will even come in the first place.
Despite these challenges, waiting need not incapacitate you. If you view things from the right perspective, it can actually empower you to be the woman you want and need to be in life: independent, resilient and strong.
So, if you’re currently at this stage in your dating life, here are seven of the most important things you can do as you wait for Mr. Right to find you.
1. Feed your brain
Education is something that you’ll benefit from regardless of your relationship status. So, while Mr. Right is still on his way to find you, go ahead and pursue the degree you’ve always dreamed of.
If you’re not into attending contact sessions at a university, there are various online classes that you can also consider. Not all online courses are credit courses, though, meaning they don’t count towards a degree. Therefore, check the validity of the courses if before you sign up if you want the courses to count towards a degree.
2. Develop your relationships
Whether it’s with your potted plant, your dog, your neighbors, your besties or your family, developing your relationships is one of the most beautiful and impactful things you can do while you’re single.
Make sure the other people in your life know that you care by following up on your words with action. When you form an unshakeable relationship and bond with them, you’ll find that you can’t be shaken easily, no matter what challenges you and your future Mr. Right face.
3. Turn your hobbies into opportunities
Think about that one thing that you know you excel at. It’s something that people compliment you about, something that you may consider to be your talent. It can be cooking, singing, designing, etc.
Whatever it is, develop yourself in this area until you’re able to find opportunities where you can actually earn from what started as a hobby. This will be a worthwhile way to spend time as a single woman.
4. Shine in your workplace
If you’re currently employed, whether full- or part time, this is the perfect opportunity to impress your boss and clients. Let them see how much of an asset you are by improving your skills consistently and working on opportunities.
More importantly, when you’ve established a career, you’ll have a better chance of meeting the kind of Mr. Right you’re looking for because of the social network you’ll have formed through your professional connections.
5. Travel
Let’s face it. Mr. Right may want to travel with you from time to time, but if you’ve been born with wanderlust, occasional travel won’t cut it. You’d want to move from one place to another and reach the furthest places you can afford to reach.
Being single affords you this kind of adventure because you’re your own your boss. You don’t have to get anyone’s permission, so go ahead, and travel where you want as much as you can until Mr. Right arrives. You can’t be sure he’ll allow you this freedom when he finally comes.
6. Revisit the standards you’ve set for your potential life partner
You probably have a list of things that you’re looking for in a possible boyfriend. If you don’t, you surely have specific qualities that you’ve taken a mental note of that you want your future SO to have.
There’s no perfect time to evaluate these than when you’re single. Think about whether what you have set is realistic or not. It will also help to pick out the top three most important qualities you think should be non-negotiable and to list your dating deal breakers so that when you start dating again, you’ll spot red flags before it’s too late.
7. Enjoy the wait
If you have besties who are currently in a relationship, you’ve probably heard them say for the umpteenth time how they wish they could be single again because being single is probably one of the most exciting (though terrifying) times of a person’s life. It just depends on the lens you’re viewing your relationship status from.
So, while you’re in this phase, just enjoy the ride. Take your time, and don’t rush into anything. The day will come when you’ll soon reap the efforts of your patience and perseverance while waiting. When that day finally comes, it will be worth it!
Being single doesn’t make you less of the strong woman you are. So, nail the art of being single, and enjoy the ride while waiting for Mr. Right!
