7 Clever Ways to Dress On a Budget

Out of money but still wanna look amazing? It's totally possible. Here are 7 clever ways to dress on a budget.

Don’t ever let such a trivial thing as money stand in the way of your inner fashionista! Yes, money does come in to the equation and is necessary, but the lack of it doesn’t need to be as restricting as you think, especially not when it comes to fashion.

You can be fashionable, bold and breathtaking, wear cute outfits, express your own style, and enjoy fashion even while on a budget.

As a matter of fact, being on a budget can actually make you step out of the box and be more creative with your clothes and style. Check out some great ways to dress the way you want to when shopping on a budget.

1. Raid Your Closet

Most girls only focus on a certain percentage of their wardrobe, and forget about the rest, for whatever reason. But if you really took a good look at what you have back there you’d probably find lots of stuff that can be used in creating an outfit, lots of stuff that just need a little fixing, or just stuff you used to love but simply forgot about. Also, lots of trends are coming back, and coming back big. That’s why some of the things you own that were hot way back could probably be hip today with a bit of modification.

2. Go Vintage

And when I say ‘go vintage’ I mean, raid your mom’s closet too. Seriously, I can bet you you’ll find some serious fashion gems in there from when she was younger and into dressing up. As I said trends are coming back and some of her old stuff could be pretty valuable findings – you get something that’s unique, that has a story and that vintage feel that’s quite the hype these days and perfect for creating beautiful outfits.

3. Watch out for Sales

Sales can definitely be hectic but it’s a great way to get great finds without your wallet taking a huge hit. So keep an eye open for sales at brand stores you like but can’t really afford most of the time, or just your favorite stores, so you don’t miss an opportunity to get the best deals.

4. Outlet Malls and Shops

Sale all the time, what can be better? Sure they usually don’t have stuff from the new collections or whatever but who really cares about that? If you think a dress is cute do you really care if it’s spring/summer 2011? Of course not.

5. Invest in Statement Pieces

This is where you splurge. It’s perfectly normal to set a little bit more money on the side and spend it on a nice high quality purse, a pair of great shoes, a nice belt, or something like that. Think of them as an investment, ’cause they’re price basically should guarantee high quality, and that means you’ll get great usage out of them. And that’s not all, these will become the items you build your whole outfit from again and again in the future, because they’re timeless and beautiful. If you have a great pair of shoes on, all you need are skinny jeans and a plain white tee to look fab!

6. Accessorize

No outfit is complete without great accessories, they make a huge difference and can take your look to a whole other level. And the best thing is – they don’t have to be expensive at all! You can find great stuff at great price basically everywhere, even in brand stores.

7. DIY

Why not? You’re free to do whatever you want. Cut some old jeans and make shorts, make ripped jeans yourself, turn an oversized T-shirt into a cute dress, the possibilities are endless. If you’re not sure how to do it, trust me, creative YouTubers will show you. There are so many DIY tutorials you’ll find something that will help you for sure.
