The Best Of 2016 Fashion Trends (So Far)

We’ve made it through half of 2016, and it’s only right that we pay homage to the best and hottest trends of the year (so far). Let’s take a look into the trends that have been at the forefront of this year’s fashion game.

Fashion can change at the drop of a hat. One month is a lot of time for trends to change in the fashion world, and but there are just some trends too good to pass up. Although there have been a lot of trends to come about so far in 2016, there’s only a few that caught the attention of fashionistas everywhere.

2016 is far from over, and we’re sure there will be a lot more trends that come about during the last few months of this year. Now that we’ve made it halfway through 2016, let’s take a look back at some of the year’s biggest trends.

Chokers

Chokers started making their way back into fashion towards the end of 2015, but the trend literally exploded at the beginning of the year. For a very long time, it was hard to find chokers in your favorite stores, but now even the smallest of boutiques have sections specifically catered for the necklace loving fashionista.

While you’ll find many celebrities now rocking the trend, Ariana Grande was definitely a trend setter who was ahead of the trend. Months before the trend broke back into fashion, Grande could be seen wearing wearing her signature beaded choker, similar to the one pictured here.

Oversized Sunglasses

While we’re mostly used to wearing regular sized sunglasses, oversized sunglasses have definitely been a ‘thing’ for 2016 and its trends. These sunglasses are meant to create an easy and effortless look while also making the wearer seem particularly glamorous.

The oversized rose gold sunglasses pictured here are a part of beauty vlogger, Desi Perkin’s collaboration with the Australian sunglass brand, Quay Australia. Not only are the colors perfect for all year round, but oversized glasses are perfect for those no makeup days where you feel like hiding behind your sunnies.

Rose Gold Bomber Jackets

Similar to our previous trend, rose gold has been an extremely popular color and it’s hitting closets everywhere in the form of bomber jackets. Bomber jackets are usually a fall trend, but fashionistas have decided that it’s one trend that they want all year round.

House of CB, a shop frequented by celebrities like Khloe Kardashian, has their own rose gold bomber jacket that’s definitely a perfect color for the warmer summer months. This lighter hue of rose gold is perfect for creating a hot summer look and can be paired with a cropped co-ordinate set or a sexy body-con dress.

This second rose gold bomber jacket from Missguided is the perfect shade for transitioning the color into the fall. The darker hue of rose gold blends perfectly into the darker shades of the season. While the smaller fit of the House of CB makes it perfect for nights out, the loose fitting bomber jacket is a great look for more casual styles.

Floor-length Dusters

Floor-length dusters have been a hot trend of 2016, but more specifically in the summer. These thin jackets are less for warmth and more for style. As shown by these two outfits from Boohoo and from social media personality, Amrezy, these dusters are great accents for adding to monochromatic looks.

This olive green duster is a great way to spice up a late night look without feeling the heat from a bulky sweater or coat. This color is not only a perfect color year round, but we can see this style and color blooming even more as we get closer to the fall months.

Amrezy, who has made a name for herself on Instagram and through beauty collaborations with make-up brands, is shown rocking the perfect monochromatic white look. She pairs a white tank top and skinny jeans with nude pumps, and a duster in one of this year’s hottest colors – rose gold.

Slip Dresses

When this trend first came about, the world was confused. Most people are used to seeing slip dresses being worn in the bedroom, but we all know that Rihanna is a trendsetter, and once she wears something, the whole world is seen wearing it.

In a look you can find in one of our Best Street Styles from Rihanna, BadGalRiri hits the streets in a contradictory outfit that somehow makes sense. Not only does she pair sexy heels with a fur coat and baseball cap, but she wears a copper/bronze slip dress that quickly took the fashion scene by storm.

Clothing brands have taken this trend and made it a part of their collections. ASOS took the trend and this year’s hottest color and combined them into this rosy gold slip dress.

Beauty vlogger Carli Bybel recently released a line with Missguided where she includes a rose gold and mint slip dress that she pairs alongside a bomber jacket and over the knee boots.

Structured Dresses

Balmain has always been a popular name in fashion, but ever since their launch with H&M last November, their style has taken the fashion world by storm. Balmain is known for their highly structured and geometric patterned dresses, as shown in this strapless black, white, and gold piece, and the fashion world took note of this trend.

Since then, we’ve seen the appearance of dresses that almost seem inspired by #BALMAINARMY, such as these two dresses from Missguided. These pewter gray and coral dresses are extremely structured with the lines and patterns around the neck and the dramatic angles that help give the wearer a narrower waist.
